Personal Brain In A Cloud: create, edit & view same brain(s) from 1 or more remote computers
Putting PB data into a cloud and enabling Personal Brain "cloud computing" would extend the power of PB for me. It would enable creation, editing and viewing, of my same brain(s) by me from remote computers with the PB program installed (e.g. home, work, field etc.)
This would replace carrying brains around on a memory stick etc.
(Note: While Personal Brain In A Cloud might also facilitate iPhone app, PB on handhelds, collaboration/sharing and real-time collaboration, these potential benefits are secondary to my request). I have seen some of these "secondary" (for me) suggestions but not my primary suggestion already mentioned here.
Names for this functionality -- which I envision might require a new version and might even come as a separate product release tier -- might bechosen from among the following:
Personal Brain In A Cloud,
Personal Brain Cloud Computing Version (Personal Brain CCV) or
Personal Brain Remote Edition (Personal Brain RE)
PersonalBrain 6 includes sync of Brains to WebBrain.com, including concurrent modification of the same Brain from multiple computers. WebBrain.com can be used to access your Brain from most devices (iPad, iPhone, and more soon). Presently browser based access is read-only, but that will be changing soon.

OK. Another subscription based service to synchronize local network computers. Sorry, I understand that it might be useful for enterprises, but not for me. Having different instances of PB running on all my computers, synchronized locally, would be a dream for me.

Harlan: Great work on keeping this product relevant and productive! When can we expect to work collaboratively through TeamBrain? Jonathan

I would love to have some way to setup a "team brain" that my business partners and I could collaborate and share. I need a means to post a brain either on a server or in a cloud that my team members and I can contribute to at anytime and sync/update on our personal machines. It should also have the means to update via SmartPhone (iPhone, BBerry, etc.). I am setting up a small business and I want The Brain to be an integral part of my information / decision making system.

I'm considering building my own Personal Brain, but my main obstacle is figuring out which computer to store it on: my personal PC is old and lacks the disk space, whereas my work PC is ... for work. I guess a memory stick could be a short-term solution, but being able to SECURELY access my PB in the Cloud would be fantastic.

Josef,
I was NOT envisioning "Brain(s) in a Cloud" for multiple CONCURRENT remote sessions, so perhaps if the brain is being edited on one machine it is unavailable for others to edit (or perhaps there are better solutions for this). Could you elaborate on why you say you are not sure Dropbox will do. -
Josef commented
Yes, a 'head in the clouds' would be nice. Not sure if DropBox will do (I use dropbox for other things). The conflicts would be hard to manage! In any distributed or collaborative solution, version conflicts are inevitable.

Karl,
How does PB work with Dropbox. Do you need to copy/paste the brain file to the computer you wish to open/edit/save the brain on, or can PB work on the brain while it sits in the cloud ? -
Paul Shapiro commented
so I suppose Drop Box acts like a virtual thumb drive with a PB brain file ?

There are probably several tools that could do this, but I've been using Dropbox. I have had file 'conflicts', but what I've been doing is by switching to a "Synch.brain", which only has a single Synch thought, if I'm going to leave my computer for a while or closing a PB session. This is the only .brain file that now results in 'conflict', and I can just delete those other files without worrying about losing any content. Dropbox does have an iPhone app, so I have access to .brain/folders and .brainzip files (I have an iPhone 3Gs w/ 16GB). I agree with the tiered approach, which could be linked to the Pro/Core/Free versions (more ideas in some of my other comments)
