Bulk rename (replace) in thoughts
What is meant here is the ability to select some or all thoughts, search and replace within thought name to make thought naming consistent across all thoughts.
Currently one must select and edit each thought individually which is stoneage. We're now up to PB5. This is urgent. How about it guys? I know this has been suggested in the main forum at least once, but haven't found it in UserVoice, so here goes.
This was added as part of TheBrain 11. It includes support of the use of regular expressions and preview of the results.

I just had a project I am tracking change the project name on me, so all my thoughts that have a string "PROJECTX" now have to change to "PROJECTY". And I have to do all of that manually??

hi, i fully wanna support this requirement ! Sometimes i wanna change a though name (or a word in a thought) (for example the word "APPLICATIONS" into "APPS" in a lot (or all)) of my thoughs ..
And a function like find/replace that you find in for example a word processor or spreadsheet would be very handy!!
thanks koen

It's very frustrating that this feature isn't available as it seems to be a pretty basic requirement to make context-sensitive thoughts easier to use. I'd give it more votes if I could!

I can't understand the lack of a Search & Replace function in PB. Yes Dysluckia, you're right. This feature it's been requested many times here and in the forum under different threads. It could be implemented as you suggest but I guess they don't listen. This should have been implemented a long ago but, as you can see, years go on and on and some essential features are not developed.

Yes. Please. This is a must.
I'm in the same situation than "tasbar". I have change my mind in how to name the thoughts. I use comma to organize lots of branches so when changing the parent it's necessary to rename all the child's one by one. A terrific waste of time.
Search and replace on selected thoughts or the entire brain.

I think using the Selection Box to do it is the best place, considering PB's organization. More discussion here:

This is a required capability if we want to be able to set up (generic) templates.

This is especially important when you use commas within the thoughts. When a parent thought's name is "Animal" and the child nodes are named "Animal, Dog", "Animal, Cat", "Animal, Mouse", etc. the first part (before the comma) is cropped when the parent node is active. It only comes into action when you activate the childs.
But when I rename the parent thought, I have to rename all child thoughts manually, though they are actually dependent on the parent thought. This adjustment should happen automatically.

Honestly, I had never had occasion to do this in PB before now, but always assumed this ability was already implemented. Find & Replace is something almost all programs seem to include.
