Many improvements related to links are included in the TheBrain 7.

Cornan has it right. We developed a node mesh system at work that functions similarly to the brain only it uses no hierarchy, everything is a "jump" node as it were. The key to running a system like this is that everything is a node. The system has certain predefined constant node types which handle things like linking and tagging etc. Everything has attributes, even attributes! Very powerful

While PB has been getting a lot of great new functionality for thoughts, tags, reports and more in the last year, there have very little changes and development of the link functionality. Will this be a priority in coming versions?

Dave_Wetherow: I agree that links should be able to have attributes associated with them, such as text (in addition to the link label itself). Please see my suggestion at http://thebrain.uservoice.com/pages/general/suggestions/107023-links-having-an-attribute

Cornan (re "thoughts only brains ...tag thought"): I think so too. I think that with more flexibility in regard to how certain thoughts are displayed, we wouldn't really need to use tags, we could just use thoughts (giving us much more flexibility). Please see my suggestion at http://websitetoolbox.com/tool/post/thebrain/vpost?id=3248810

I agree it should be merged with

can we merge this with the other request? it would rank much higher

i would simply like the ability to view events in a logical order. as a product manager, i would like to visualize version control with branch / merge type display. with directional link types i should be able to display a sequence of events in logical order. think also of the use in uml modeling

with link types you should be able to export the plex as RDF http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resource_Description_Framework and contribute to the semantic web http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semantic_Web

Something like what Klaaskildre said, though I would say no arrowheads (limit the UI clutter) and that some relationships really are directionless / non-hierarchical.

Links with direction and content(label notes) would bring much happiness.

It could be interesting to know the Brain Team's vision for links?

Yes i need this

Also, sometimes it would be useful to have links with arrow-heads at both ends - to show interrelations, like in in cause-and-effect visuals.

Given all the "linK" requests, including my own, I see two things here:
1) a feature for automatically grouping / collapsing links or groups of thoughts (very interesting), and
2) we may all be headed in the direction of "thoughts only" brains, where each thought would have a thought "class" and associated skin. For eample, "normal" thoughts, "link" thoughts and "tag" thoughts.
