1. Do more with the thought appearances.

   Hi,

   Being a veteran mindmap builder I like to put lots of colours in my brains. Especially the text colours of thoughts I like to differentiate a lot (as well as the background colours).

   A couple of things bother me on that level:
   First: The labels can't have the colour of the thought (...or a different colour)
   Second: In the notes area of a thought, it's name and label are not inheriting the allocated colours of the thought text.

   This would greatly enhance the unity feeling of the whole. You can choose for hero icons in the note but it not being able to follow the colour logic of the thought itself... makes no sense to me.

   Third: Furthermore it would be much more visually attractive if the text of each thought could have a free font choice (in part or totally) and/or size, which would make it possible to focus attention on certain important aspects of a brain.

   I hope a lot of people are going to see the potentials of this "reshaping" of thoughts...

2. Allow embedding attached images in the Note

   Say I create a thought for the new microwave I just bought. I drag a photo into the thought as an attachment, along with a PDF receipt and maybe an email or two. Now, within the note, I'd like to see the photo, not just in the list of attachments. At one point, I would just create a Markdown link to the image like this:

   That worked for a while, but doesn't now. When I add that markup, the brackets end up escaped, .e.g:

   `!\[\](my-new-microwave.jpg)`
   

   Currently, the only way I know how to it is to drag/paste a copy of the attached image into the text of the note. This works, but creates a duplicate of the file in the note's .data/ directory. This means I two copies of the same image file, and one of them is in a hidden directory. Seems wasteful, since there's already one right there as an attachment. Plus, if I update the attached image, that change isn't reflected in the embedded copy.

   I'd love for the markdown link technique to work again if possible. Even better would be a built-in "Embed attachment" command somehow. Possible?

3. Make TheBrain dual screen compatible

   Hi, I looked into the roadmap for version 15 and didn't see anything about dual screen support for TheBrain. Let me clarify, of course you can have two screens installed and have TheBrain running. But you can't choose to have the plex on one screen and the notes on another. This way you would be able to expand the visual interaction with both areas to the max.
   I know there is a lot of people out there that are working on multiple screens, wouldn't it be a great idea to have TheBrain expand across your entire screen(s) field? No more need to choose between plex or notes or have half of both, just add a screen!

   Let me know what the "multiple screeners" amongst you think about it.

4. Open notes in separate window from plex

   I would like the option of opening the notes section in a separate window on my second screen instead of having it attached to the side of the plex in the same window.

   This is somewhat possible now with opening a second window of the brain and maximizing the notes on there, but when I navigate to a different thought, I then have to navigate on both windows separately, which is a pain. I have not found any way or information about splitting the two otherwise.

5. Restore Built In Screenshot Capture in v15

   Several longtime users miss the old built in screenshot / Insert Image workflow.

   The current OS screenshot method works, but it does not feel equal for heavy screenshot users. What used to be one smooth action inside TheBrain now takes more clicks and keypresses, sometimes turning into three or four steps depending on the user’s setup.

   For users who capture images while thinking, writing, researching, or building notes, those extra steps break their flow and slow down a workflow they had built into TheBrain for years.

   Please consider restoring a direct built in screenshot capture option in TheBrain 15, so users can capture and insert an image without leaving their train of thought.

6. report results should not have a 1000-hits limit but should show all results

   In TB 14 the reports do not have a limit: all thoughts fulfilling the search criteria are shown.

   In TB 15 there is a limit and only 1000 results are shown and it is not clear what criterion is for choosing which thoughts are displayed.

7. Export Files to Single Folder

   When explorting files to folders, it would be great to have a checkbox in the dialogue, in additional to "selected files", for "export to a single folder".

   Often when I store files, like papers from a conference, in my megabrain, I store as individual thoughts with one file per thought and the thought reflecting the filename. However, when I export a selection, 99+% of the time, I want to export into a single folder. I can't recall ever wanting to export those conference papers for example into 150 folders each with one file.

   I've always just naturally had to select all pdfs, cut them, move them, etc. Can we just have that checkbox option please. Would be super helpful.

8. Deep linking

   One of the interesting features of Obsidian (and some other stuff) is the ability to deep-link to specific paragraphs of notes. I can write a note and link a statement to a paragraph in another note. Or, even transclude that other-note paragraph into the note I am writing.

   In addition to this, other aspects of deep linking needed in TheBrain include:

   ~ Section anchors that would correspond with the existing section headers used in the TOC
   ~ Bookmarks that could be placed at the paragraph level
   ~ Transclusions (amazing!)

   Please add these deep linking features to TheBrain? For me it's a superpower, linking ideas across notes.

   (Linking and transclusion are different animals but they go together, in my opinion, so if we have one I would want to have the other.)

   Deep linking would also be a candidate feature for Cerebro.

9. Thought Icon Alignment

   I would like to request a new feature for the Icon of Thought in the edit section of the software: the ability to adjust or align the image preview.

   Currently, the icon often displays the image incorrectly, which is difficult for me due to my OCD. As shown in the attached image, the preview of the girl is incorrectly focused on her chest instead of showing her face, which is the intended subject. Allowing us to precisely adjust the icon's crop or alignment would resolve this issue and greatly improve the editing workflow.

10. Global Zoom Word Cloud Graph - like in Zettelkasten

    Please make it possible to zoom out the Plex, so all Thoughts are visible like "dots" and when I hover over a dot, the thought zooms bigger including the connected Thoughts.
    Ideally with the Type and Tags -> like a simple "mouse over effect" that would be great.
    Maybe this doesn’t add that much to the use of The Brain, but it would have a visual impact on users of The Brain.
    At the moment I solve this with copying the selected thoughts als outline and let Claude Code build a Zoom Cloud Graph.

11. Local AI option PER brain

    I use TheBrain for work and at home on the same laptop. We are allowed to also use our business laptop for private aspects.

    In this scenario I want to be able to use e.g. ChatGPT for my private brain, however for my work brain I have to truly make sure, I will only use local AI endpoints.

    Thus, for me it would be a real advantage to define the local AI use on a "per Brain" level. Ideally I would have a switch per Brain like [Cloud AI] / [Local AI] / [No AI]

12. The screen is filled with thought text name (large, no control over size) no way to access my note-bug?

    Hi, iOS (26.4.2) on iPhone (13 Pro) issue (though is see it also on the macOS desktop app).
    I can’t access the note. The screen is showing mainly the thought name and the bottom menu items cover the tip of the note. No way the decrease thought name text size. Not sure if a bug or per design.

    To replicate go to Instagram, select

    and share to BrainBox. Then import from BrainBox to a thought. The import process creates this thought name and note with the link to Instagram-All good and desired.
    Nevertheless, it is totally nonfunctional. Due to the size of the thought’s name and font size I cannot see the note itself nor the imported link so I cannot open it and I cannot reach to edit the note. There must be a solution for this 🙏🏻🙏🏻

14. BrainBox full text capture local-only (not via WebBrain)

    I use the BrainBox Safari and Chrome extensions a lot on macOS. In TheBrain 15 BrainBox is working better than ever. But, I rarely use WebBrain. To get a full-text capture (not just the URL) I have to (1) create a new thought on the desktop Brain, (2) wait for a sync, (3) wait for WebBrain to sync, (4) capture the page with the BrainBox extension, (5) from the BrainBox dialog in the broswer select the full text capture option, (6) select the thought I want the capture to be a child of (and hope that the indexing is finished), (7) add the BrainBox capture as a child, (8) go back to The Brain on the desktop and wait for the sync.

    This is eight steps that should be two steps if we could do a full-text capture to a thought directly on the desktop from the broswer to TheBrain 15.

    Again, I am not looking for links captured, and I am not looking to create PDF attachments, I want the very usefu full-text capture that BrainBox provides, but without all the work to get the thought back onto the desktop app.

16. I have a wealth of "Google Alerts". can I bring them into a new Brain?

    I have a wealth of "Google Alerts" (over 6000 of them).

    Can I import them into a new Brain?

    I'd like to be able to sort and categorize them, and access/use them for content creation ideas.

    Many of them have multiple links to different media sources.
    The ideal new thought would include:
    1. Alert name/Type (e.g.: Shopping Tips)
    2. Alert Date (yyyy/mm/dd)
    3. Alert Title (Initial Cap text)
    4. Alert Link (url)
    5. Alert Media Name (Name/abbreviation of Media Source))
    6. Alert Description (1-2 lines of text or summary text)

18. Option to sort the search results according to date accessed etc.

    At the moment I am not sure how the search results that the search/create field returns are sorted. To me the search order does not make much sense and the thought that I search is somewhere in the middle hidden between thoughts that are not relevant.
    It would be nice to be able to choose the sort order according to date accessed or alphabetically. Additional options could be relevant for other users.

    At the moment it is not clear to me how the thoughts in the result for reports are ordered.
    I would like to be able to sort them alphabetically, or according to date created/modified/accessed.

20. Make it possible to switch the endpoints of links without losing the link properties

    Hi,
    A thought about links that occurred to me:
    Wouldn't it be good if we would have the possibility to alter/change the start- and end-thought of a certain link?

    Imagine, after having set the colour and the thickness and the type of a link between two thoughts and maybe even added a note content and you realize that one of the end thoughts should be different... the only solution is to unlink and start all over again losing all property and note information of the existing link in the process.

    If the properties-window of the link had a reference to both endpoint-thoughts and it would be possible to change/relocate those into another endpoint-thought, then we wouldn't be losing the existing link properties when changing an endpoint-thought... simple so it seems... thanks for your votes if you think so too.
