develop a Personal Brain iPhone App

I had posted this as an idea but was not clear that I expected an iPhone App that could Synch with "Brains in the Cloud" Thus having Cloud based Brains is a key step but did not "Complete" My original idea. An iPhone App would be able to take full advantage of the iPhone UI an... more

    Timeline

To have the possibility to add a new metadata to the thought that is Time. This should not be the creation date but simply a date added by the user.
Thoughts can then be visualized on a timeline. It will be nice that links will be visible in this new view of the plex.

May be this is a big i... more

    Linking brains

Would be really cool to have a link thought to another brain.

Links to thoughts in Brains via a URI format would allow this, plus the ability to link to thoughts from notes and from other programs.

Please bring back user defined sort order in plex

    I work with medical data that has its own structure which does not lend itself to the current sorting features. If the other features of the current release were not so compelling in other areas I'd be back to good old PB3 in a flash for that feature alone. I'm begging here! ;-}

node types with structured meta data

It would be nice to be able to define types of nodes with associated properties. For example, maybe an "event" type node with properties such as "name of event", date, duration, etc.  I could also envision a "person" type node with name, birth place, birth date, etc... more

    Status: started

The underlying architecture for structured data inside of Brains is now working in our development labs.

AES encryption - Password protected brains. This would include encrypting all the little files associated with each brain.

Personal Brain In A Cloud: create, edit & view same brain(s) from 1 or more remote computers

Putting PB data into a cloud and enabling Personal Brain "cloud computing" would extend the power of PB for me. It would enable creation, editing and viewing, of my same brain(s) by me from remote computers with the PB program installed (e.g. home, work, field etc.)

    This would replace... more

    Typed links have a direction

Each link can have two meanings depending on in which direction you read it, upwards (parent_to, employed_at, is_part_of) or downwards (child_to, has_empoyee, consists-of). I think it would be useful if each link could have two types depending on reading direction and this could be shown by chang... more

Allow note clipping like EverNote directly into plex

Highlighted text from eMail, Web page, document would be clipped into and added into the plex as a special edit area or active thought.

    Icon library

PersonalBrain should come with a default set of icons to choose from for adding to Thoughts.

    Multiple Plex view

Multiple Plex for the same brain.

Use tabs to switch between different Plex.

And a "Session Manager" to save/restore sessions.

    Internal (tabbed) Web Browser

Will enable opening multiple web pages, PDF's and MS Office Documents inside Personal Brain. Avoids the need to keep swapping in and out of of external applications. Mindjet Mind Manager just implemented this in its new Version 8...

Print reports including notes of each thought

I would like to be able to print the results of the Reports tab including the notes of each thought in the report. It would be even more useful with some basic report formatting capability, but I would be satisfied with a hard copy print or export to text file of the Reports tab.

    Add Tablet PC support

As they did it in MindManager! At least, please allow drawing / writing in Notes. It will be very good for all Tablet PC users. Now we see more and more touch screens even in netbooks, Tablet features are embedded in Vista and Windows 7, so many people will appreciate such possibilities :)

    Collaboration Features

Allow PB users to collaborate in real-time via a shared network database. See the following forum posting for much more detail on this idea:

Allow hyperlink in notes to link to thought in plex; clicking it should bring up the thought in plex

We can now hyperlink to www or other docs, but why not into existing thoughts in the brain? This would be a very useful feature. I frequently write notes and wish I could hyperlink directly into the plex.

unify, modularize, and expose the search/report/filter

This is by far #1 limitation of the software. The search, filtering, and reporting capabilities seem too 'unfinished' or 'disjoint'. I can search nodes with words, but not report on them, I can report on some attributes, but not search on them, and I can't filter based on my searches... A powerfu... more

    make linux work fully

I changed to Linux (Ubuntu) and my brain ain't working the same as in Windows.
    No Drag and Drop
    No color changes
    No templates

Is there a time frame to make linux fully empowered?

FYI, the color changing problem under Linux has been fixed for the next release. Also, templates do work if you grant PB permission to modify the contents of the program folder.

Formlize Brain to support Semantic Ontology

Currently, Brain support the ability to import OWL files. It would be nice to see Brain support the exporting on OWL files or at least RDF files. Additionally, to get product visibility to the Semantic community, incorporate support to a triple store database such as Franz Inc. open source Allegr... more
