<text>It would be nice to be able to define types of nodes with associated properties. For example, maybe an "event" type node with properties such as "name of event", date, duration, etc. I could also envision a "person" type node with name, birth place, birth date, etc. Yet another example could be a "research" type node with the name of the research paper, lead author's name, university affiliation, date published, names of other collaborators.

An example of a structured node that is buried in the text is at http://forums.thebrain.com/tool/post/thebrain/vpost?id=2733306

I imagine that the structured data structures would be relational and this would facilitate logical data-base oriented queries beyond tagging. For example, find all research papers published between 2001 and 2002. Find all research papers with "cognition" in the title and "Jones" as lead author.

Find all people born in a certain state during a certain time.

I am thinking about the query capability to make it easier to do more interesting investigations (especially for users who may not have created the brain)

<text>Links currently only have a ‘Link Type’. What if each link could have an attribute as well, which could be a piece of text such as a note. In the first instance, short of a more sophisticated approach (where maybe, optionally, the link attribute is displayed permanantly in the plex), this attribute could be displayed when the mouse is hovered over the link. Currently, when the mouse hovers over a link with a particular type, the link type is displayed. This proposal suggests a link attribute should also be displayed in this situation, probably in a different font colour etc. in order to distinguish it from the link type. Also, maybe it ought to be displayed on a line below the link type text, rather than on the same line. The link attributes between two unique pairs of thoughts should be unique/individual. That is, the link between thoughts A and B should be able to specify a different link attribute than a link with the same link type that might exist between thoughts C and D.

Example 1: Link types called ‘name’, ‘birth place’, ‘birth date’, ‘author’, ‘university affiliation’

Example 2: Link types called ‘release date’, ‘release version’, ‘client’

Example 3: a Link type called 'date'. This could be used to implement some of the requests for 'timeline' functionality.</text>

<text>Sometimes I end up with too many notes for nodes in my brains. I would like to be able to see the first few note lines by rolling my cursor over a node. This is similar to the way I can read the description of a link type when I roll my cursor over a link. I find it less useful to traverse a brain if I have to keep looking at the notes at the bottom of the screen.

Other related ideas:
1) Maybe the notes section should have a 200? character header to display the very important information.
2) Maybe only top level notes (via numbering) would be shown
3) Maybe a few sentences could be highlighted with a special color and these show up </text>
