Context-specific tags
Make it possible to assign a tag that is 'context-specific' - the context being the link(s) to other thoughts. Here's an example: I'd like to tag an activity (such as sailing) as an Interest, a Skill, a Profession, etc. In my case, it's an Interest; in George's case, it's a Profession. Both links David>Sailing and George>Sailing should point to the same thought - Sailing; but I'd like to be able to do a tag display showing Profession(s) that would show Sailing as a result. Then if I clicked on that tagged result, I'd see the people for whom Sailing is a Profession.
Another example would be the ability to tag one element of a 'thought-pair' with a plan: e.g. 'Strengthen this connection'. So I could tag Sam<>Dave with 'Strengthen this connection' and the tag would only apply in that context (rather than to Sam<>[all of Sam's links] or Dave<>[all of Dave's links].
Something similar could be accomplished by using Link Types, but there are two obstacles: 1) Link Types are actually fairly hard to apply, requiring very fine motor control over the mouse pointer location, and 2) we don't currently have a way of displaying or creating reports based on Link Types.
The project I'm working on involves a rich data base of personal contacts - one in which 'context' plays a major role. But I'm certain that other applications could benefit from context-specific tags.

I'd go with easier to use and incorporated link types.
