TheBrain 9 now allows setting of both text and background color. Using tags, it is possible to include multiple icons on a thought.
Future plans include the ability to have multi-line thoughts and differing text sizes. This is fairly complex to do unfortunately since much of TheBrain’s dynamic capability is built around automated layout of thoughts, which is difficult when they can be of variable height.

Also, it might help to see if an idea has already been posted [use search] so that votes can be combined for similar ideas.

I could definitely see this as being useful if it presented a 3d view similar to http://taggalaxy.de/.

Bummer... I was thinking that you could use mouse hover to expand any sub thoughts and that mouse click could be used for actually selecting any thought type in the menu. :(

I definitely like this approach better than the alpha sub divided menus currently implemented. Good idea.

This is certainly an interesting concept. I'm going to keep my eye on this one to see if it goes anywhere. I'm all out of votes right now.

@anakon, are you asking for a way to dynamically build a parent based on the combination of different thoughts? I'm still not getting it. Can you model an example in a brain file and post a screen shot with some explanation of how this should work?

I'm not sure I understand what is being requested. If this isn't just about ordering child thoughts, but also preserving the path to the child thought; would the comma trick accomplish this?

There is also inconsistency between selecting the thought type of a single thought and assigning a thought type to selection.

@stan, very good idea with the hotkeys. Would make ordering items very easy.
