I need to add that putting numbers in front of thoughts for sorting under one parent causes problems with other parents.

Sorting by date modified or date created does not work either, because thoughts are continuously updated and are usually not created in the best order for sorting.

This is a wonderful idea, bordering on the line of necessity. I use this program as a knowledge base for my college studies as a teaching major with a math emphasis. Just two weeks into college with this program, many thoughts are starting to look like a disorganized mess of small network hubs - and this is even with sibling thoughts being hidden.

Simply allowing automatic sorting respective to the active thought by link type first, link text next, and thought name last would clear up most of the confusion and allow me to draw a more organized and thorough representation of subject knowledge.

I've already crashed and burned once in college in part because I did not have a knowledge base for my material - and I'm hoping this program will help me prevent that rather than being a liability mid-way into the semester.

I may need to mention that I don't mind either key-combination-clicking the "dot" to select all links or otherwise selecting multiple links one at a time.

I wish I could have said something when I flagged the idea as "inappropriate". I meant to report it as a duplicate of:

This is a really awesome idea and would really help me. My bad for making a duplicate suggestion :(. I see this really wonderful and useful idea was posted nearly a year ago but for some reason the idea doesn't seem popular. I wonder if these types of novel, useful, high-potential, easy-to-implement yet unpopular ideas are overlooked by the staff :(.

Anyway, I believe my version of this idea may contribute, so I'll include it in this post:

For example, I have a thought called "inflammation" it has eight child thoughts with links of type: four "subtypes" and four "components". Because of the spelling of the thoughts, all of them are mixed up and disorganized. This happens very frequently.

For better thought organization and readability, I would like for thoughts to be alphabetized first by their link type; second by the text of the link type (i.e. "exudate" [Action link type - Causes] -> acute inflammation), so that "Causes" does not cause the associated child thought to be mis-grouped with other thought types and better organizes among other "causes" and other names of actions; and third by the name of the thought.

I like this idea. Though the coloring ability is already implemented, I would like thoughts to have formatting options. Say, I have a thought called "CO2" (chemical name for carbon dioxide). The "2" is supposed to be in subscript form because that's the convention for chemical elements, but I can't do this in The Brain 7 for thought titles.

I would also like to comment on the implementation of the timeline feature. Say, if I am describing the transfiguration of DNA to RNA or chromatin/DNA into chromosomes. Each step of the timeline could be a thought connected to a point on the link describing the relationship of DNA to RNA or chromosomes. Thoughts attached to the timeline could be molecules and conditions affecting the DNA until its final transition into RNA or chromosomes.
