Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but if you make a tag a pin, then child thoughts as you create them are "orphans" when you click on them. I've done this with an _inbox for my implementation of Getting Things Done

Partially implemented, with Thought Types and Tags having properties of thoughts, and being able to have Thought Types be Super Types.

Will separately vote for being able to have Super Tags, and also for allowing Tags to be Children of Thought Types, and Thought Types be chil

Partially addressed. Now a toggle to Make Private or Public in the Pull-Down menu. Still need this added to the right-click menu. I'll add this as a separate thought, so this one can be considered completed.

This really must be done before PB6 is released. There should also be a Preferences setting where new thoughts could have a default setting of private.

If you can detect the device, then making the Outline view the default might address this issue?

A "work-around" for this could be to have a pins tag, as a Pin. For perennial pins, you could also have a Pin thought type. This would also allow you to have some hierarchy, to keep the number of pins more scalable.

Hopefully this could be done fairly easily, as we already have the Outline view that provides this functionality (hiding siblings).

This could be part of a more general capability to save Reports. Being able to save reports would also allow straightforward selection of thoughts. Tying this in with: 1) being able to directly create a .brainzip of a selection and 2) the differential .brainzip referred to in another new thought.

Hopefully, this can be implemented fairly easily, as the synchronization process is already doing differential updates. For .brainzips, I would only want this one-way, so that .brainzips are archives.

This feature could probably also enable .brainzips for 'merging' by thought type. Being able to do this for a Person/People thought type would give us a way to manage an Address Book across multiple .brain files!

This is probably infeasible for performance reasons. One of the practices I've established is to have an 'encrypted' tag, which helps me to make sure that these thoughts don't have any internal attachments. I have external links back to information that's behind my firewall. While people might be able to find out filenames, or intranet links, they would still have to get through the VPN connection to actually access any content. Having an additional "Encrypted" option for Privacy which would prevent internal attachments would make this process more automated. Several additional safeguards would be helpful: 1) being able to set the default privacy, so that information wouldn't be inadvertently disclosed -- 'encrypted' would serve as a second layer -- they could only be reduced to 'private' first; 2) 'Encrypted thoughts' could also not being accessible via the publishing process, but would be part of the synchronization process.

The shape could be tied to Thought Types. With Super Thought Types, we could then assign different colors to the 'Child' Thought Types

[10 of 10] This would be extremely helpful for those of us implementing GTD, as these could be added as Child thoughts to specific thoughts, such as our Inbox. This could open up multiple possibilities -- 1) RSS feeds, although we would probably want these to be added as attachments; 2) or e-mail filters which could be forwarded to specific thoughts?; 3)...

Being able to have connections between thoughts available to specific groups. This would be in conjunction with 'unlisted thoughts' so that we could manage our 'unlisted .brain' files from within our primary .brain

To coincide with the 'unlisted' option on webbrain, a third value for privacy in personal .brain would allow thoughts to be shared selectively.

[10 of 10] My understanding of this idea would be similar to have a ".brain tag" where a thought could be assigned to one or more .brain files. Being able to filter so that you could be viewing one ".brain" at a time would go a long way toward being able to have a single .brain file, but be able to share portions of a .brain.

This has been my nemesis since I started using the PersonalBrain (1998/1999). I've been making some progress in this area recently by using tags. I've been organizing my tags through a 'taxonomy'. I'm using GTD, and have .inbox, .actions, .processing , the context-sensitive @home, @work,... and & for communities of practice. As I'm getting closer, I'm working on a "Curing Digital Schizophrenia" presentation which I'll be sharing on webbrain

Being able to save with Named Sets would really be great, which would allow us to develop context-sensitive pins and tags. A third way to do this might be to have a Pin History which could be a pull-down list from the Action Bar.

Closely tied with this is being able to designate custom search engines as .brain specific. There are some .brain files where you only want to use the Search in one particular .brain

[ 7 of 10] Currently, I'm having to open the thought folder, Open WIth <browser>, copy then Paste as Thought Type. If I want to make the image an internal attachment, then I have to save the file, link as attachment, then Move Into Brain. Making this process less tedious is the real goal.

[10 of 10] This would be extremely helpful, especially if it can be customized by applying to Selected Thoughts! This would be a core part of a "post-publishing checklist".

Linking this with being able to move internal files out of the .brain in bulk (for a selection) would a core capability for a "pre-publishing checklist". This would make the process of safeguarding from inadvertently making an attachment publicly available much easier -- a "MUST HAVE" for large .brain files.
