This would be extremely helpful to provide another layer so we do not inadvertently disclose thoughts when publishing to webbrain.com As an alternative, I'm using GTD, so I've set up an _Inbox tag, and make all Children private as part of Processing.

Another aspect of Managing Tags is having a single tag when copying thoughts between .brain files.

This would be analogous to the way we can choose options when copying Thoughts --override, skip, or add as children. In turn, the children option would require the parent/child capabilities like the "Super Type"

Not sure if tags address part of this, might be a work-around? When you create a new thought as a child of a tag, the new thought is assigned the tag. It's then possible to create selections of thoughts assigned Tag-A with Tag-B,...

I've started to create corresponding Thought Types for Tags, one of which can be assigned to a Thought. Hopefully, a future version will allow us to assign multiple Thought Types to a thought -- see my "Shadow Thought Type brains and Shadow Tag brain" idea

Not quite sure what you mean by this, so please provide more detail. This sounds like something you should be able to do through one or more Jump Thought associations??

By way of example, one way I've been addressing this challenge is by creating "Thought Type" thoughts. a "Thought Type, Person" is assigned the Person Thought Type, and is the thought where I can attach not only the internal image(s) being used for the Person thought type, but also the source link for attribution purposes. I have a Thought Type section ("lobe") of my .brain files, which I can then copy as a selection to other .brain files, and this brings the Thought Type into the new .brain.

This practice is being explained more completely in a "A Guide to PersonalBrain" .brain file which I'm publishing to Webbrain. My goal for that .brain is that we can collaborate on this .brain as a community, and it can evolve into being the companion .brain for a book. This 'Thought Type lobe' can then become a shared "Thought Type library" .brain file, and people can copy those which are applicable. The long-term goal is that a future version of PersonalBrain will be able to have more formal Template constructs.

4 of 10: A more general tool that would benefit many software programs would be to have a wireless pad, with just the Function Keys. Could also be a great feature on an iPhone App (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)!

9 of 10: This would greatly improve the UI, especially if the Thoughts could wrap in the same manner

Maybe this could be like a spreadsheet, where you can set a column width and then 'wrap text'? I can't think of any reason why someone wouldn't want to wrap labels.

Another step toward this would be able to have an Application tab in the Advanced Layout so another software package could be 'integrated' into the PB User Interface

The current issue of the Communications of the ACM (December 2009) has an article, "Are we ready for a WebOS". I have been trying to organize my .brain files along the lines you mention, as I need to have a single .brain file to be able to make all the connections to a single thought, rather than having duplicate thoughts in multiple .brain files. I also want to be able to share portions of my .brain: people at conferences are often intrigued with the PersonalBrain, but I can't share a .brain file with thousands of thoughts. I'm struggling to do this, and have thought about several improvements that are needed to make this happen. Foremost, we need to be able to create .brain template files. We also need to be able to assign components such as Thought Types, Link Types, and Tags to specific levels: global (all .brains that get created), to a template, a single .brain file. We also need to associate tags and Search engines with Thought Type(s).

PersonalBrain is already tracking the number of times a thought becomes active, and I would see this as a means of rating thoughts. If these could be more exposed in the user interface, this could even be a way to assign thoughts to pins. I've been trying to do this with a Pins thought I keep as a Pin, and have a Pin thought type which I can create a hierarchical, context-sensitive system of Pins. Still seems like a good idea, but mixed results so far.

Another consideration would be allowing us to have Calendar Types, which could then be linked to Thought Types.

This relationship seems to me to be a jump thought. You can think of a jump thought as going to another dimension (going into/behind the screen)

This is a suggestion that I cannot assign enough votes. Another way that could greatly help would be to have pins automatically assigned to categories: recent, frequent, home (where home would be the thoughts most recently assigned as home thoughts)

    Fixed!

I also like that the wallpapers are being considered part of the theme. This is much better, as the color scheme often needs to be tweaked for best results with a particular wallpaper. There's been a tremendous amount of work done on 'safe colors', with sensitivity to the variations of color-blindness. It would be great if the community could develop themes based on these principles, that we could share.

Add an "Encrypted" option similar to the Private option now available, so that all "Encrypted" thoughts are private with an additional restriction that they can only have external links to files (disable 'Move File Into Brain" option).

Could there be a way to check if an attachment is already encrypted, if there could be an additional field like private? Could possibly be run as an agent on demand, or even better as a preference to make this mandatory when creating a brainzip?

You can do this by having the PersonalBrain in the Startup group. However, you may run into trouble if you're on a computer at work, as admin functions may interfere with launching and/or significantly slow down the login process.
