I'm really liking the FullScreen presentation view. What I would like though is a right-click option to turn on and off the Wander feature, as I often use this to preview a topic in my classes -- sort of an advance organizer before beginning to teach.

Allow for a filtered view on tags - This would show the map topics that meet the tag selection.

When chossing this option, being able to selection from an existing tag list would be easier than typing which is prone to errors.

Doing #1 would go a long way to supporting The Getting Things Done community which is rapidly growing. And we're always looking for ways to simplify our process.

--------------------------------------------------------------There is no overwrite warning when saving an Expanded View with the same name as another.

FEATURE REQUEST: Can we add a "Save" feature to a saved expanded view so you can change it without needing to re-enter the name? Given that there is no overwrite warning, this is a bit kludgy.

  4. The conversion process from 4.5 to 5.0 should split the tags string based on comma. The comma should not be included as part of the tag name.

    http://forums.thebrain.com/tool/post/thebrain/vpost?id=3092283

In the Tags tab, most of the tags listed have a comma in the name because in 4.5 I used comma separated lists for my tags. It would be nice if the conversion to 5.0 could strip off any trailing commas from the tag name.

And now that I look at it a little more, what is the criteria for creating the tags during the 4.5 to 5.0 conversion? I see several…

  5. With long notes you lose a scrolled position when you just mouseover another thought for a quick look. The position of the active thought note gets reset to the beginning. It would be nice if the scroll position of the active thought note sticks after a mouseover.

  6. In wander mode, there should be a pause (with adjustable duration) each time a thought is displayed.
The speed between thoughts is ok (it can be globally adjusted in the preferences), but it would be nice to have a chance to read the thought names as they fly by.

  10. If the child level is used for web linked thoughts in PB 4.5, then there are only two levels of "container" hierarchy shown in today's plex.

This is a lot like looking through a mail slot. Adding a partially linked "grandparent" level will greatly improve viewing of hierarchical elements in brains.

By "partially linked" I mean that the grandparents would be displayed at the top of the screen, with links DOWN to the present "parent" level, but NOT to include all possible child and sibling links.

My rationale for this request is as follows: 1) There are very few hierarchies…

  11. Now with outline view and expanded view there is a priority need for smooth panning functions for the plex using the cursor keys.

  12. Hopefully this can be addressed sooner than later... every time I add a tag or change the color (background) of a node, I need to switch views or collapse and expand a few times before I see the updates. Then they disappear again every so often.

  13. This looks like a bug in 5.0.0.8. When clicking on the "+" to expand child thoughts, the view keeps recentering on the active thought. Very annoying when trying to drill down a thought branch, because I then have to scroll back through all the expanded thoughts to find the branch I was working with.

Suggestion: clicking on the "+" to expand child nodes should not automatically recenter the active thought in outline view.

  14. When creating a new tag, the newly created tag should default to "selected" for the currently active thought. It is an annoying and unnecessary step to have to select a tag immediately after just creating it.

  15. The import from MindManager feature of Beta 5.0.0.9 imports only a small portion of the MM note for each topic. Since PB can import both the XML and native MM8 file, I can see that PB is picking up the field "PreviewPlainText" as the note, rather than the full embedded HTML.

An additional minor bug...the Thought PB creates is called "Unamed Topic" rather than "Unnamed Topic".

  17. The default arrangement of all Tools (Notes, Properties & Attachments, Details, Search, etc.) is for them to be spread across the bottom of the screen. Since the computer screen is normally in Landscape, not Portrait, mode, this arrangement reduces the vertical height of the Plex even further. When the active thought has many children, one has to scroll down to see them all.

Dragging the most commonly used tools (in my case, Notes, Properties & Attachments and Search) to the RH side of the screen where they occupy a side pane not only improves the appearance and usability of the…

  18. PB is nice but too much mouse clicking to go places. Can't navigate in plex using hotkeys? Garbage.

All I want is a hotkey to turn the active thought's parent (if there is only one) the next active thought, ie to move the focus from the current active thought to its parent. If there is more than one parent, the hotkey won't have any result.

This would be a great boon for clicklessly navigating up tree-like plexes, where each node has one parent only (but more than one child).

Even smarter, make it a condition that the focus change only…

  19. Other apps do it, so why not PB? I use so many other apps I'm always forgetting the darned things and hate looking up the User Guide (Appendix A).

So for example, hovering over the Back arrow icon would show not just "Back" but "Back (Alt+Left arrow). You get the idea

  20. Senior users of PB and those with impaired eyesight must really appreciate being able to scroll the Active Thought to increase plex font size. But they might as well not bother as the font size of Reports, Search results and Selection boxes seem to be fixed at 8pt, which makes them dangerously close to being illegible.

While it would be nice to be able to increase their fonts at the same time as scrolling the plex, this is not essential. What we urgently need is a user-definable font size to apply across all these windows. Naturally the height and width…
