Start the calendar week on Sunday.
To standardize the calendar with most US calendars, start the week on Sunday or at least give that as an option.
27 votesThis was completed as part of TheBrain 9. In version 11, the preference is under Look & Feel > Timeline.

Callaborative Wikipedia style online brain
I'm thinking all the time of turning Wikipedia into some kind of collaborative visual environment, and PersonalBrain might do the trick. If not by making some plugin to Wikipedia, it could surely function by setting up an online brain for this purpose. A "plugin" would be better though, as the PB environment maybe isn't best for discussion. This giant brain would then just reflect what's happening on Wikipedia, and you can browse the articles as "nodes" in the brain and open them in external browser or maybe an internal.
This would be a great step forward towards constructing collaborative visual…

Dual Monitor Support with one button activation
Very Important for those of us who have tons of data to view -- dual monitor support for the Tools and Plex windows .....
I have used the Advanced option to allow drag and drop of tools to a second monitor. However, when the application is restarted, the tools are part of the Plex again. So, I have to reset the tools windows each time I restart the app. Can you add a "one button" activation that I can press to reset the tools and Plex to the last configuration used. It would make it much easier to go to…
23 votesTheBrain 9 reloads the exact configuration each time the app is restarted, including windows on multiple monitors.

Make event reminders optional
Having reminders for calendar events is great - if you need them. But if you use events for just keeping track of things (e.g. presentation dates), reminders can be annoying. The alternative to check off the event results in a strike-through description text which is nearly unreadable. So please make reminders optional!

Keyboard accelerators for Undo/Redo last action
Undo/Redo seem to be the last edit menu options for which there are no KBAs , possibly because they don't specify a single task but open a list of actions.
Since 90% of my Undo/Redo seems to be concerned with the last thing i did, I would like to see accelerators for Edit > Undo last action and Edit > Redo last action.

provide a sync function between mobile and office computers
I have a Handspring Visor and Palm Desktop software on my office computer. Syncing data between them with the usb data cable eliminates dual data entry.
I now have a Samsung Q1UP-XP utra mobile tablet with a built in AT&T Wireless Data Modem. I would like to be able to sync it with my office computer directly via our LAN or USB or wirelessly say VPN from anywhere.
Do you offer this capability? Or do you think you could create something as simple as the Palm OS Hotsync?

Provide the ability to create brain templates
This feature would allow users to create templates for new brains for common needs.
It would allow specification of such things as initial thoughts, thought types, tags, display preferences, etc.
When a new brain is created, the user would be given the opportunity to select the desired template.
It would be nice to have the ability to specify the default template.
PB could ship with one template -- i.e. the template for how PB creates a new brain.

Make tags available via right-clicking on a Thought
Tags should be settable via a right-click, just like Thought types. This will enable faster access to apply tags.

notes: remember last cursor position
Under Linux (maybe other OSs as well?) the cursor position in a thought's notes is not remembered. This is bad with long notes as it forces you to go back to the previous position by hand in case you want to quickly switch to another tought/ copy-paste from one note to another tought's note and go back etc.

Filtered view on report results
Allow to filter the plex view so that it shows only the results of the report.
Since the report feature already is a powerful way of filtering thoughts, it is a straight forward idea to reflect this filter in the plex view. This would be much more flexible than filtering on tags or link types only15 votesThis is included in 5.5.0.6

Make TheBrain iPhone app usable offline
The TheBrain iPhone app is a good idea but currently it's nearly unusable because it hits the internet for every single operation, including just navigating between thoughts or adding a new thought. This can be very slow and run up data charges. Please make the iPhone app usable offline once a subscription has been verified. Cloud-based brains should be synchronised opportunistically in the same way they are in the desktop app.

search by link-relation (parent-child-jump)
there should be a way to search (report/find/retrieve/list) groups of thoughts based on their link-relation.
one basic thing this would make possible is searching intersections of thoughts linked to the same two or more parent-thoughts.
the deeper thought behind the proposal: a lot of primary information is put into a brain in the form of links (actually this is the one core way of informing and structuring one´s own personal brain). so naturally this information should be usable to its fullest extent, especially for information finding and retrieval (as the info is already "in" the brain).
there are also is…

Allow Configurable Date/Time Stamp in Notes
It'd be great if the format of the Date/Time stamp was configurable - I'd like to see YYYYMMDDTTTT stamped into my notes instead of the current longhand output. Thanks.

Better-looking Mac interface
I wish that the Mac interface was prettier! I guess it's a Java thing, but it would be nice if the interface was more Leopard-like, especially the bottom feature set (notes, calendar, etc.) which looks downright old-fashioned.

Fix the Notes for use in OS X
Notes is the most tedious thing to use in PersonalBrain for those of us who want our notes styled.
- Default style preference should be customizable.
- Use of standard Mac keyboard shortcuts instead of Windows (!)
- “Paste and Match Style”
Basically, it just needs to work at basic TextEdit level. Nothing fancy. Just not frustrating would be enough for me.
12 votesFixed keyboard shortcuts in 5.0.0.9.
Default style prefs customizable in 5.5
Paste and match style = Prefs > advanced > paste as text in 5.5

An option for the Font SIZE to shrink as it gets farther away from the active thought. They are called DISTANT thoughts, yes?
REASON: If a thought is distant it would have a smaller and faded (but readable) presence compared with the active thought.
I believe earlier versions of TheBrain had this.
EXAMPLE: Active Thought: Font size = 16, 1 thought away = 14, two thoughts away 12, three thoughts away 10, Four = 8.
And make the HUE fade towards grey the farther away the thought is.
12 votesBoth fading and sizing of distant thoughts are included in the preferences.

Create compatibility with Dragon NaturallySpeaking speech recognition software
Currently it's not possible to use Dragon NatuallySpeaking speech recognition software to input thoughts, text or instructions. This would be an enormous timesaver for inputting information and updating the Brain.

Extend Private to hide thoughts from the plex and past thoughts list, not just the Sitebrain.
We also need an Options toggle command such as View Hidden Thoughts.
