I was excited by the Cerebro in TheBrain 15. Finally, a feature that matches what so many competitors have.
However, this is not an AI engine. It's a simple integration between TheBrain API and an LLM. It is so frustrating not to be able to search for example 'thoughts about sport'.
The problem is, I need to know what I am looking for before I start looking for it. Otherwise I can't pass literal information to TheBrain API. This is poor and counterintuitive.
I asked Cerebro about this and it said, perhaps I can literally search through a list of food related items ... really!
We've had BM25 for over 30 years and this is the best you can do? Please be fair and do not confuse simple API integration with what you website describes as ...
"Cerebro can do anything you can do. Create new content, search your brain, browse for related content, summarize attachments, suggest new links, or even just have a conversation. The only limit is your imagination."
I reached the limit of my imagination pretty quickly. In 2026, this is a complete deal breaker. Sorry to be harsh but I feel it's fair when many other apps at least have some form of RAG capability.
Disappointed :(
