Search within "x" hops of active thought
It would be nice to limit searches by radius. For example, often I want to search only thoughts that are close to a particular active thought, say 3 hops away at maximum. This helps me make sure thoughts are correctly positioned as well as filter out thoughts might likely show up in the search results but that I have no interest in finding because they are not linked to the right area. This occurs when thoughts are named similarly but used in different areas.
Secondly, this search would ideally have the capacity to set not only the radius, but also the direction. In other words the following two scenarios would be EXTREMELY useful:
1) search 'x' hops of active node using child links only. Here I force the search path to comb only the children of the active node but also only the children of the child nodes.
2) search 'x' hops of active node starting with child links but then continuing with all link types. Here I am specifying only the start direction (in this case child links) but the search path will then continue using all other link types. In this case the originating node will have to be excluded from the search path for obvious reasons. This scene allows me to search the children of a node and allow the results to also include jump nodes as well as alternate parents of the child nodes.
The ability to limit the radius as well as determine what direction the search path should take would solve many issues for me. It would also allow me to put more data into a single brain as opposed to needed separate brains.
Use Edit > Crawl Brain and Modify Selection to select the Thought to be searched. This will allow you to do what you want plus more. Then select “In Selection” at the top of the search pane.
