Manual Sorting for Thoughts
Add the ability to manually sort thoughts under a parent.
Currently can use hidden numbering, however this is hard to maintain if the sorting needs to be adjusted, especially changing number in the middle of the sort.77 votesThanks for all the feedback on this one. Drag and drop re-ordering of thoughts in the plex while in the normal layout is included in 15.0.533 - see the release notes for more details. The ability to drag while in other layouts is in the works.

Enable AI to Summarize PDFs into Notes
I save many PDFs as child thoughts under a parent that describes the area of research those pdfs are relevant to. It would be useful for AI note generation to be able to use the contents of the PDFs. In this way a thought that contains a PDF could have a summary of the PDF as a note and I wouldn't have to open the PDF and read it entirely to know what it contains. Similarly, the parent though could contain a summary of the PDFs contained in its child thoughts. While I have focussed here on PDFs, this could…

Introduce a really TheBrain AI assistant
The way AI is implemented in theBrain is not a really assistant as e.g. Github Copilot. So it should have agents e.g. prompts starting with "@" and context ones e.g. prompts start with "/" which shall replace the existent ones in "notes" tool. Also as an AI assistant as a chat.
42 votesCerebro AI in v15 is very powerful and can be used to create custom scripts to build features that you can add directly to the UI via toolbar and keyboard shortcuts.

Add Timeline feature to Web Brain
I have developed an extensive timeline of events tied to thoughts in my webbrain. I have no way to show external users that timeline on the web version of the brain. It would be nice to add for future releases the ability show the timeline view in the Web brain.
32 votesThe web client is now on par with v15 for the desktop, including full access to events and reminders.

Add support for MathJax formulas, just like ANKI.
Both thoght nodes and notes support MathJax mathematical formulas to solve the problem of inability to input in subjects such as physics and chemistry. In addition, the formulas can support Chinese and other non-English characters.
24 votesAll MathJax extensions are now supported as of 15.0.523.

I would like to use an AI tool like perplexity or even internal Brain AI to search all thoughts and attachments
Right now the Brain ai tools go to the web to get their results. I would like to use all the information I have in my brains as the data source instead or in conjunction with the WWW. So this search could be from within the brain or via an external ai tool like perplexity
22 votesCerebro AI in v15 can search your brain including the ability to read attachments. The results can be summarized for you in a chat or even used to create new thoughts automatically.

Enable an OFF switch for the AI tool
This is a personal thing for me and maybe other users may feel empathy for me. I do not at this time favour the inclusion of the AI function and would appreciate if a user off switch would be best for strange users such as I. Maybe to make it a usage preference. I wanted to say I often pause using TB since the inclusion of the AI function. Yes I do know I can use it or not, yet the exponential evolution of AI is unsettling to this older mind. Sorry guys, I just have to say what I…
20 votesv15 includes a setting to turn off AI completely. There is also an option to use local AI.

The note indicator in the Plex area and the back link in the note area can be hovered for viewing and editing like the Hover Editor plug-in
The note indicator in the Plex area and the back link in the note area can be hovered for viewing and editing like the Hover Editor plug-in in Obsidian. This is simply great. We need more powerful note editing functions.
The recent list below the Plex area allows you to view older ideas by scrolling the mouse wheel, which is very useful for users with small screens.
20 votesI believe everything described here has been working for some time already in v15. Thanks.

Features to add to mobile app
Calendar should be visible in mobile apps, we should be able to edit link labels/name thought relationships in the mobile apps.
Basically, if we want to put all our thoughts out in the brain but we cannot access it on our phone app (since a laptop/ipad is not portable all the time), it makes it less useful. The phone app should be a close replica of the desktop app to really make thebrain more useful to the users. Thanks.

Security - add two factor authentication for Vulcan
Two-step verification (sometimes called multi-factor authentication or 2FA) should help us protect our TB content by making it more difficult for someone else to log into our TheBrain account.
Ideally, offer it with Microsoft or Google Authenticator apps.12 votes2FA is now available in TheBrain 14.0.100.

Bring thebrain 14 timeline back
To the TheBrain Team,
Please restore the classic TheBrain 14 bottom timeline view (or provide an option to enable it in TheBrain 15). Many of us relied on that persistent timeline for fast, visual navigation of our work over time, and the current alternatives do not offer the same clarity or efficiency. Bringing this timeline back, even as an optional legacy view, would preserve long‑established workflows and significantly improve usability for long‑time users.
Thank you

Advanced search - find thoughts that mention a specific phrase in note
I want to find thoughts that mention a specific word or phrase.
All search tools use a special operator for this: quotation marks, but not TheBrain Desktop and Vulcan. Actually, put quotation marks around any word or phrase, such as ["advanced search"], will show all throught that contain any words in phrase.
12 votesQuoted searches for exact matches and much more are included in version 15.

Make any animation/movie file continuously playable in a loop inside Thebrain (eventually switch on/off)
Make any animation/movie file continuously playable in a loop inside Thebrain
Almost any other software that is able to play movies has an option to loop the file your watching continuously. Not Thebrain... GIF / MP4 / MOV / ... doesn't matter, just add an option to loop the content independent from the platform (browser/desktop) your using, please!
Best Regards

With AI, I want Talk to my Brain
I've been doing this with chatgpt where I add my extensive notes as training data and explore ideas with the AI in a oral conversational level.
the AI reminds me on the notes that I've written down but forgot about and the AI helps me compare and add to the ideas that I have
I'd like to have this feature with TheBrain.

Font settings for note area
The fonts of paragraphs and headings at all levels in the note style can be set individually just like in the theme settings. and it is useful to solve the problem of personalization of notes for users from non-English speaking countries by directly calling the fonts installed in the system, especially to solve the problem of abnormal rendering of English characters when mixing Chinese and English, which is more conducive to the internationalization of TheBrain.
9 votesVersion 15.0.534 includes the ability to use any font you install on your device.

Please make the following changes to the web client interface
(1) HIDE the admin features from public (logged out) view. Public readers of a shared brain do not need access to these features, and they only add to the confusion of an already unusual interface.
* To-Do List
* Reports(2) Move the Home icon to the far left of the toolbar (between the name of the brain and the thought type icon). This is where most users are going to look when they want to navigate back home.
(3) Move the Pins icon back to its previous location, immediately to the right of the tags icon. From a design…

Hide Text in Notes
I used a lot of LATEX to write long texts but now, I have pretty much switched over to use notes in the Brain.
One feature, however, I truly miss, is the possibility to hide text.In Latex, whenever I put a % sign in front of a line of text, the paragraph will not be printed, the text is however still there.
Why is such a feature interesting?
I am writing a text that later I will print out as a pdf and hand out.
% I work on the tex for a long time and put in ideas,…9 votesCompleted in 15.0.581
