  1. In Personal Brain, the first image files attached to a Thought will be displayed as Thought Icon, currently it does not support the display of some vector image formats like wmf and eps. I am using wmf format to store mathematical formulas.
    Under current constraints, the only way for me is to convert my formula file from wmf to jpg format every time I modify my formula.
    It will be very convenient if Personal Brain can provide such supports.

  2. I found a way to sync between external softwares and Personal Brain through clipboard. If ESP sync supports activation by guid, then I can store this guid in external softwares and copy it to the clipboard so that ESP will activate the corresponding Thought.
    This feature is quite easy to implement.

  3. Currently linking an external program with a Thought doesn't provide any chance of transferring parameters to that program.

    The only exception is linking to a browser, i.e., linking to an URL, which supports URL. A way to work through this is to set up a local web server and code a web page to call programs with parameters(passed via URL parameter).

  4. Displaying crossing lines, particularly those which join thoughts above and below the (currently) Active thought can result in a messy and cluttered Plex and we ought to be able to turn them off.

    Examples:
    1) Lines connecting a jump thought (of the Active thought) to one of the Active thought's parents or siblings.
    2) Lines connecting one of the Active thought's children to its parents, siblings, or even a jump thought.

    Consider the active thought to be on the "equator" of the plex; we should not need to see lines that cross the equator, even if they're dimmed.

    If you…

    FYI, these “extra” links are already shown dimmed at half strength. Also, if you want less distractions, you can turn off the display of all links entirely until mouseover in Preferences.

  5. Some versions ago (was it in PB3?) I think I remember being able to do something to stretch the plex vertically, i.e., increasing the gap between parent, active thought and children. Did that disappear in the mists of time? If so, it should be re-implemented. It doesn't seem to me to require major recoding, but then I've just consumed a fair bit of alcohol, and the world seems a much simpler place.

  6. A feature to create a new brain file from a thought.

    If i have a thought called "Project Something" i can choose to move this thought to a new brain file where "Project Something" will be the main title/topic of the brain and all the childrens are added as thoughts.

    Usage example:
    - You have topics you will no longer work on (like a finished project or notes for a completed school subject) and you want to remove this topic from your brain without deleting the thoughts for ever. With this feature you can archive those kind of thoughts to…

  7. I mean this will be useful for overview of thought information:

    • A keyboard shortcut for showing label for the active thought (Alt-L)
    • A keyboard shortcut for showing label for thought under the green marker ring (Alt-Ctrl-L)
    • A keyboard shortcut for showing labels for all thoughts in plex, including history (Alt-Shift-L)

    Much faster that using the mouse.

  8. Now I am importing a lot of mindmanager files into my Brain.
    In the latest version of PersonalBrain, there is a very nice feature called "link to existing" when pasting outline from clipboard. Can theBrain guys make this also available when the user is doing importing?

  9. If you click on "Close Brain" for a large brain, PB doesn't actually close the file. It returns you to the Welcome screen. But when you click on the brain name to reopen it, it'll say "The Brain XXX is Already Open." Only apparent option is to end the program and fire it up again.

    Nothing wrong with deferred indexing and restructuring, if that's what's going on, but the user needs a progress meter and a clear indication that a Brain is available or unavailable.

    Memory management seems much improved in 5.0.1.3. But usage ticks up continually as you work…

  11. Another cause of Brain Bloat? I hope not.

    If you've given us the ability to attach URLs to our thoughts and notes, you should also incorporate the ability to automatically check them (termed verification), so that we can remove or edit any dead ones as they age. When a brain contains hundreds of URLs, we should not have to click each link in turn to see if it is still alive. Many bookmarks managers offer this feature, so think how many more copies of PB you would sell if people suddenly started using PB as their bookmarks manager, for which…

  12. Sharing the same search field and Search button between 2 quite different search methods can be confusing and counterproductive.

  14. It would be very nice if PB provides the following options:

    • Highlight thoughts "modified" in the past [n minutes / n days];
    • Highlight thoughts "activated" in the past [n minutes / n days];
    • Highlight last [0 or n] "modified" thoughts;
    • Highlight last [0 or n] "activated" thoughts;

  15. See: http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/6009/20081231035600ym4.png

    The tags on "distant thoughts" make them almost unreadable. It would be nice if there was an option in Preference to "Hide tags for distant thoughts".

  17. Add options to right click menu (on a thought) to copy its Thought type or its tags for pasting into another thought (to add or replace in the case of tag(s))
    Change the Thought type selection mechanism on the right click menu so that a combo box for thought type selection opens instead of a hard to use submenu.

  19. These would be some good features, especially if having small font in PB:

    • Make the distant thoughts zoom up when having the mouse pointer or the green ring over them.
    • Make the green ring be able to access the distant thoughts as well as the main thoughts.

  20. Currently if I take 1 vote away from a 1-vote idea in order to submit another, the original idea which now has 0 votes is dropped from the list of "Your Ideas" on the RH side of the page.

    That means I can't see it or search for all my ideas with 0 votes by using my login. This sucks.
