  1. I take notes on the fly using other products and it's a stupid shame that I rarely use TB to do so. Doesn't it make sense to laser focus in on a shortened process for users and potential users to be able to view TB as the ideal note taking product/service that competes head on with the plethora of note taking apps that shall ultimately disappear? I like the idea of The Brain Box being re-imagined as the in-box for ideas and web snapshots to be used later when using TB desktop or web client.

  2. Currently in the web version and mobile version, the report conditions show as text which can be adjusted.
It would be nice in all versions (mobile, web and desktop) if you could set a placeholder for the date and perform calculations.
    For example:
    created:"06/10/2025 - 06/11/2025"
    Could become
    created:"({now} -7) - {now}"

This would allow me to save the report and then when I pull up the saved report it will always give me the thoughts created in the last 7 days.

  4. The ability to query the whole brain and all brains similarly to what Recall has done. And then the ability to add the answer as a new thought to the Brain.

  5. Add the ability to manually sort thoughts under a parent.
Currently can use hidden numbering, however this is hard to maintain if the sorting needs to be adjusted, especially changing number in the middle of the sort.

  6. I would like to be able to tell sync status just by looking at the Cloud icon. I have attached a visual of one possible solution.

This would be useful in several situations:

    • My Brain is having a sync problem, but I don't realize it until days later. This is because I have to click on the little triangle to see the sync status, but there is nothing to prompt me to do that if I assume sync is automatically happening like it usually does.

    • I'm stepping away from my desk, and want to make sure my latest…

  7. (1) HIDE the admin features from public (logged out) view. Public readers of a shared brain do not need access to these features, and they only add to the confusion of an already unusual interface.
    * To-Do List
    * Reports

    (2) Move the Home icon to the far left of the toolbar (between the name of the brain and the thought type icon). This is where most users are going to look when they want to navigate back home.

    (3) Move the Pins icon back to its previous location, immediately to the right of the tags icon. From a design…

  9. After the experience of the past 5 years people are moving away from large corporations; they no longer trust them. The drive towards independence and personal control is leading to Increasing numbers of people choosing linux. By releasing a linux version you will grow your business and contribute to greater levels of freedom & autonomy.

  10. Sometimes you have thoughts that have some formal longer name, like there are companies named "International Consolidated Airlines Group SA" in real life. But when you refer to it in your notes with a shorter name, the reference won't be recognized.

Now, you don't want to fully write out this name each time, but you also don't want to manually create a link each time you write shorter version like "ICAG SA", not only would that be a work-around, often you actually don't want to create a clickable link at all and just leave it with a dotted underline, but…

  11. Hi all, really excited about the new release. My request involves having a folder on the filesystem that is watched and any markdown files inside this folder are automatically added as children of the folder thought in TheBrain. Ideally, this would also support a kind of bi-directional sync or live view of the markdown files so no matter which tool they are worked on (e.g. TheBrain, markdown editors, etc) the thoughts in TheBrain contain (or can point to and display) the latest version of the file.

I know this has been mentioned a few times in forums but doesn't seem…

  12. I'd like to suggest another level of permission for Team Brain, which I'm considering for a client as an organizational learning tool.

I don't want anybody to be able to change everything, either intentionally or accidentally.

But I want everyone to be able to contribute.

Would a drafter / commenter permission be possible? Where a user could add a thought, but not delete other thoughts? Writer / Administers could edit and add the though.

  13. I save many PDFs as child thoughts under a parent that describes the area of research those pdfs are relevant to. It would be useful for AI note generation to be able to use the contents of the PDFs. In this way a thought that contains a PDF could have a summary of the PDF as a note and I wouldn't have to open the PDF and read it entirely to know what it contains. Similarly, the parent though could contain a summary of the PDFs contained in its child thoughts. While I have focussed here on PDFs, this could…

  15. I make extensive use of jump thoughts, as they are also a wonderful way to display the (previously selected) elements of the current thought to which they are attached. And since there is a keyboard shortcut for creating such a jump thought, it is a fairly straightforward way to add them, but only as long as the jump thought does not already exist somewhere in the Brain. Then the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-K no longer works and no jump thought is created. And if I explicitly click on “+ Create jump”, a new thought with the same name will be created,…

  16. At least I guess that it can only be a bug:
I make extensive use of jump thoughts, as they are also a wonderful way to display all the topics of a thought to which they are attached - sort of a keyword index/overview for a given thought.

In order to create one, I use the corresonding keyboard shortcut (Ctrl-K). Pretty straightforward - but only if the thought to be created does not already exist (somewhere in the brain). Because when you then select the already existing thought from the selection window, a link is created but NOT the corresponding…

  17. Make the lines of a YouTube video's table of contents “clickable/usable”
    Just as an example:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTSRx78Aac8
When you click on this link, you will see a YouTube video – like millions of others. Then click on “More” and you will (hopefully) see a few lines that represent the content of the video (like a table of contents) and the corresponding time code at the beginning of each line.
This makes it easy to jump to a specific point in a longer video.
I would be delighted if theBrain would one day retain these links when I insert text like this…

  18. Make any animation/movie file continuously playable in a loop inside Thebrain

Almost any other software that is able to play movies has an option to loop the file your watching continuously. Not Thebrain... GIF / MP4 / MOV / ... doesn't matter, just add an option to loop the content independent from the platform (browser/desktop) your using, please!

    Best Regards

    Jean-Marc

  19. Note: This is a general idea, I'm not suggesting the features should work exactly like how I laid out, but more what end result / function should be strived for (ie. chronologically organizing information in a more selective way)

    To provide context:
I'm interested in mapping connections / relationships between individuals. It's very important to be able to do this, as understanding relationships between individuals is critical for analysing potential conflicts of interest, including historically.

The individuals are the bedrock "child thoughts" of my brain.

Their parent thoughts will be things which bundle people together such as organisations, movements, maybe…

  20. When items in a Table of Contents wrap to two or more lines, it can be difficult to distinguish between the different items in the list.

I suggest adding formatting that makes it easier to see where each new item begins. I've attached a few possibilities.
