  1. when using copy and paste function the comma trick is copying the previous parentname into the new thought instead of inheriting the new parents name. If this would be fixed, it's easy to, on your own, create template thoughts, wich you can copy and paste within the brain.

  2. Outlines are useful for when you have the same children under many different parents. (i.e. I have 20 accounts, each has on Account Manager, etc. Outlines let me easily set each new account up.)

The "Comma Trick" is useful to help identify which parent a child comes from. This is particularly useful when I have, say, 20 accounts, each with an Account Manager, etc.

Since I want to be able to tell which Account (Parent) any given Account Manager (Child) comes from, I use the "Comma Trick". Since I want all of my Accounts step the same way, I use…

  4. When creating new thoughts and similar/existing thoughts are displayed below, you can't tell the difference between tags and normal thoughts like you can with the instant search/activation feature.

  5. This would permit us to do a lot more with them, such as subfilter them according to Tag, Type etc. Naturally they would only be displayed when Show Forgotten Thoughts is enabled. See here for full discussion:

  6. I would like to be able to open several brains simultaneously in a tabbed interface. I want to use Personal Brain for keeping track of my to do list, but I don't want to mix them with thoughts related to projects. Being able to open several brains at the same time would allow me to keep them separated.

  7. For those of us with very large Brains, report selecting by Thought Type seems to freeze the program for all but the smallest types. If we could subselect with a masked starting letter(s) it would allow us to use the reporting like we used to when the Brain was still small. Example: Within a specific thought type, or other selection criteria, be able to subselect by F, Than, or perhaps A-C for a range.

  8. Being able to drag a URL to PersonalBrain icon on the Doc, and have it switch to PB and add it as an attachment to a thought (same as Windows), even when in a different Space. Always clicking on PB icon switches to the assigned Space.

  10. For example:

In fruit.brain, select "apple", "banana", "grape", then close fruit.brain, the next time I open fruit.brain, the Selection box will be restored with "apple", "banana", "grape" selected.

  11. In v5.5, "Links retain their assigned colors even when they are highlighted". This will make it even more difficult to identify and cut links buried in a dense plex.

The only reason I'm wasting a vote on this is that we had this feature in 5.0 but it was taken away from us without any user consultation, as far as I know.

  12. It would be nice if I know how many words in all thoughts (names + labels + notes).

This could be added in the Brian Statistics dialog. See:

  13. The Comments pane is taking way too much screenspace. A Comments button could be added to the menu, possibly replacing the Upload button as that could be done from My Accounts.

  14. This feature request is for a unified theme for PersonalBrain.
Currently the toolbar buttons are grey on dark grey. However the buttons on the reports (specifically the refresh), and the tags, and the calendar bar don't match this theme.

The first part of this request is that the theme is carried over to the Calendar, Reports, Properties & Attachments and search windows. Perhaps also to a lesser extent to the Notes window also.

The second part is to have a unified colorized version (s) of the buttons for those that prefer color for their buttons.

    This way, those who prefer…

    2) Comment field added to Theme and displayed during "Manage Saved Themes".
    3) Backup existing settings before overwriting with saved Theme.

  16. When trying to apply a new wallpaper, or re-apply a current wallpaper, it is disappearing/not appearing. This is extemely annoying, as I like to change wallpapers/themes as part of brainstorming. This is on the latest Mac version; haven't tested it yet on Windows version

  17. In 5.0 we could not only display a link thickened when it was highlighted but assign a different color to it if we wanted to, to make it stand out from the others when we need to edit or delete it. The present situation is very confusing. For more details see:

  18. 1) Options > Preferences to display all Thoughts anchored (i.e., turn Auto-arrange off) when Expanded View starts. If Old or New Expanded, still start with all Thoughts anchored.

    2) Toggle switch on Menu to Anchor All / Release All Thoughts.

This request is similar though not identical to:

  19. I hate having to navigate every time through the following steps which is currently the only way to view a Saved Expanded View:

    1. Click on View.
    2. Navigate with the mouse cursor all almost all the way down to the end of the pull-down-menu.
    3. Click on Expanded View to show available saved Expanded Views.
    4. Click on the desired saved Expanded view.

I hate it for a good reason! Because I'm becoming a heavy user of the expanded view since I'm on the urge of migration from Windows Explorer!

I want to set an Accelerator to be able to use it as…

  20. I've just imported a small part of my massive OneNote Notebook collection. OneNote uses a HIDDEN file with the name "OneNote Table Of Contents.onetoc2" for what the names suggests. That file is shown as an attachment, even though it's hidden.

I want a preference checkbox to change this behavior to HIDE files which are hidden in the thought folder!
