  1. The Mindmap Layout is unique in that clicking and activating a node doesn't navigate to it. For bulk thought updates (like renumbering them for example, or mass note updates), this is super useful!

But why not enable this mode of thought activation in any Layout? There's plenty of space next to the Layout button to switch between 'normal' mode and 'locked navigation' mode.

Or else allow a ctrl-shift click on a thought (or similar) to activate without navigating.

  2. Currently in the web version and mobile version, the report conditions show as text which can be adjusted.
It would be nice in all versions (mobile, web and desktop) if you could set a placeholder for the date and perform calculations.
    For example:
    created:"06/10/2025 - 06/11/2025"
    Could become
    created:"({now} -7) - {now}"

This would allow me to save the report and then when I pull up the saved report it will always give me the thoughts created in the last 7 days.

  3. When a bunch of thoughts are added to selection, add a function, "Interlink All Jumps". This would make every thought that are jumps of one thought, link with all the other thoughts in that jump batch. Then when you jumped to another thought, the same jumps are also attached to the newly activated thought, and every thought in that selection.

  4. Making thought-based sharing possible
Currently the only way of sharing a brain is by sharing the whole brain with someone else, or make it publically available where the private thoughts won't be visible. It would be very interesting to share individual thoughts that can be added in someone else's brain, without making it public.
It makes sense, for example, since I could share a project I'm working on with someone else, which is linked to other peojects/people that the other one is not allowed to see (and vice versa).
Making a new brain and copy the thoughts is not the…

  5. You could create a separate section like the timeline section and have a spot where you can plug in where in the world something might have happened. There are opensource Google Earth-type websites out there with free data and low-poly Earth spheres. Would be just an extra feature to be able to input and export data with, which I believe is one of TheBrain's biggest strengths.

  6. I would like the option of opening the notes section in a separate window on my second screen instead of having it attached to the side of the plex in the same window.

This is somewhat possible now with opening a second window of the brain and maximizing the notes on there, but when I navigate to a different thought, I then have to navigate on both windows separately, which is a pain. I have not found any way or information about splitting the two otherwise.

  7. Say I create a thought for the new microwave I just bought. I drag a photo into the thought as an attachment, along with a PDF receipt and maybe an email or two. Now, within the note, I'd like to see the photo, not just in the list of attachments. At one point, I would just create a Markdown link to the image like this:

    ![](my-new-microwave.jpg)

That worked for a while, but doesn't now. When I add that markup, the brackets end up escaped, .e.g:

    `!\[\](my-new-microwave.jpg)`

Currently, the only way I know how to it is to drag/paste a copy…

  8. I love the copy local / web thought URL. However, I would like to extend the capability in this direction a bit further.

I would like to be able to connect thoughts between two or more brains so that they remain in sync with the following functionality:

    • Sync this thought with another brain bi-directionally (latest version sync whichever thought holds last edited version or content)
    • Sync this thought with another brain uni-directionally (the identical thought in the other brain always acts as a backup)
      • For backup mode, define a number of copies of changed content within the thought
    • Be able…

  9. One of the interesting features of Obsidian (and some other stuff) is the ability to deep-link to specific paragraphs of notes. I can write a note and link a statement to a paragraph in another note. Or, even transclude that other-note paragraph into the note I am writing.

In addition to this, other aspects of deep linking needed in TheBrain include:

~ Section anchors that would correspond with the existing section headers used in the TOC
~ Bookmarks that could be placed at the paragraph level
    ~ Transclusions (amazing!)

Please add these deep linking features to TheBrain? For me it's…

  10. One click to link all thoughts in a note. This will also serve to reactivate dead links (which happens when you merge thoughts then delete forgotten).

  11. Several longtime users miss the old built in screenshot / Insert Image workflow.

The current OS screenshot method works, but it does not feel equal for heavy screenshot users. What used to be one smooth action inside TheBrain now takes more clicks and keypresses, sometimes turning into three or four steps depending on the user’s setup.

For users who capture images while thinking, writing, researching, or building notes, those extra steps break their flow and slow down a workflow they had built into TheBrain for years.

Please consider restoring a direct built in screenshot capture option in TheBrain 15, so…

  12. 1) As a user, I would like to search on hashtags that exist in included markdown documents or that I might add to Brain notes. Currently special characters like # are stripped out of search

    2) As a user, I would like hashtags to work interoperable with Tags. Any found hashtags would show up in the Tags menu. This would greatly increase interoperability with other markdown tools

  13. The ChatGPT integration into Brain was in my opinion pure genius. Kudos to Harlan, Shelly, Matt, and all the engineers who made this possible.

Now could you do the same with others besides ChatGPT?

X.com AI integration would open TheBrain, in way I can only imagine.

    Thanks

  14. While it's not clear why TheBrain developers dislike supporting Google calendar sync, deprecating the feature is not good. Many of the notes I create in TheBrain are related to events, and so the abrupt cutting off of support without and explanation puts all those notes at risk. Not a good call.

  15. Filter a view to show all pending (or checked) to-do items. Currently, the right-panel tells me how many pending to dos there are, but then shows all items, pending and checked. I'd like to see only pending. Or, I'd like to see only checked.

  17. When changing a thought to a type or tag you have to do it individually. It would be good to grab a group of thoughts and allow the ability to change the group to a type or tag.

  18. Hi,

Being a veteran mindmap builder I like to put lots of colours in my brains. Especially the text colours of thoughts I like to differentiate a lot (as well as the background colours).

A couple of things bother me on that level:
First: The labels can't have the colour of the thought (...or a different colour)
Second: In the notes area of a thought, it's name and label are not inheriting the allocated colours of the thought text.

This would greatly enhance the unity feeling of the whole. You can choose for hero icons in the note but it…

  20. This would be a GAME CHANGER for me. I understand TheBrain uses an External AI tool to generate its responses and that it does not use the content of the brain as a custom large language model (though that should be a long term aim!). However, it should surely be easy to create a custom prompt that retrieves information from the Brain that can form part of the prompt that is sent externally.
For example, with AI tools I am currently creating prompts like, "Summarise the following", "Show any common threads in" etc and then I copy paste the content…
