  2. I hope you can refer to the markdown software Typora.

Its mathematical functions are quite powerful, with inline mathematical formulas and formula blocks, support for non-English characters, and center-aligned lines. The rendering process is processed by MathJax.

It also supports using pandoc to import and export documents, which is very convenient.Export to PDF with bookmarks. Go further and export or import. More formats, including docx, OpenOffice, LaTeX, MediaWiki, Epub, etc, can be exported or imported.

Automatically match common MD editor characters,Auto complete pair of brackets and quotes like a code editor. Also, There's also an option to auto pair markdown symbols,…

  3. Currently the only way to customize thought backgrounds, a valid use case on its own, is by assigning a type that has one associated by it. This renders the typing system useless.

So for my (creative) work flow, I want to assign backgrounds and types, but they are not linked. Types are supposed to work cross cutting across the plex, but this breaks if your background-requirements are not exactly the same.

It would make more sense to have background simply a property of thought itself. Or of tags with some sort of priority system, but that would be complicated in…

  4. Callouts helps us include additional content without breaking the flow of our notes.

Add a few types to display with distinctive colors and icons to indicate the importance of the content, such as :

    • Note - Highlights information that users should take into account, even when skimming.
    • Tip - Optional information to help a user be more successful.
    • Important - Crucial information necessary for users to succeed.
    • Warning - Critical content demanding immediate user attention due to potential risks.
    • Caution - Negative potential consequences of an action.

    Supported types for Github:

    Supported types for Obsidian:

  5. The Mindmap Layout is unique in that clicking and activating a node doesn't navigate to it. For bulk thought updates (like renumbering them for example, or mass note updates), this is super useful!

But why not enable this mode of thought activation in any Layout? There's plenty of space next to the Layout button to switch between 'normal' mode and 'locked navigation' mode.

Or else allow a ctrl-shift click on a thought (or similar) to activate without navigating.

  6. Calendar should be visible in mobile apps, we should be able to edit link labels/name thought relationships in the mobile apps.

Basically, if we want to put all our thoughts out in the brain but we cannot access it on our phone app (since a laptop/ipad is not portable all the time), it makes it less useful. The phone app should be a close replica of the desktop app to really make thebrain more useful to the users. Thanks.

  7. Please enhance the notes editor to allow the creation and editing of graphical notes, such as handwritten text or sketches using a stylus.

It would be fantastic to implement functionality similar to tools like Nebo or OneNote, which enable seamless integration of handwritten notes and drawings. This would significantly enhance the usability and versatility of TheBrain, especially for users who prefer working visually or using a pen (e.g., Wacom Pencil) on tablets.

Thank you for considering this suggestion!

  8. When a bunch of thoughts are added to selection, add a function, "Interlink All Jumps". This would make every thought that are jumps of one thought, link with all the other thoughts in that jump batch. Then when you jumped to another thought, the same jumps are also attached to the newly activated thought, and every thought in that selection.

  9. One of the interesting features of Obsidian (and some other stuff) is the ability to deep-link to specific paragraphs of notes. I can write a note and link a statement to a paragraph in another note. Or, even transclude that other-note paragraph into the note I am writing.

In addition to this, other aspects of deep linking needed in TheBrain include:

~ Section anchors that would correspond with the existing section headers used in the TOC
~ Bookmarks that could be placed at the paragraph level
    ~ Transclusions (amazing!)

Please add these deep linking features to TheBrain? For me it's…

  10. It would be helpful to be able to encrypt individual thoughts. This should include the granular choice of encrypting:

    • Thought name (I know, that might be weird from a usability perspective)
    • Notes
    • URL Links
    • Attachments

    Well, I guess basically everything.

  12. Making thought-based sharing possible
Currently the only way of sharing a brain is by sharing the whole brain with someone else, or make it publically available where the private thoughts won't be visible. It would be very interesting to share individual thoughts that can be added in someone else's brain, without making it public.
It makes sense, for example, since I could share a project I'm working on with someone else, which is linked to other peojects/people that the other one is not allowed to see (and vice versa).
Making a new brain and copy the thoughts is not the…

  13. I've been doing this with chatgpt where I add my extensive notes as training data and explore ideas with the AI in a oral conversational level.

the AI reminds me on the notes that I've written down but forgot about and the AI helps me compare and add to the ideas that I have

I'd like to have this feature with TheBrain.

  14. I love the copy local / web thought URL. However, I would like to extend the capability in this direction a bit further.

I would like to be able to connect thoughts between two or more brains so that they remain in sync with the following functionality:

    • Sync this thought with another brain bi-directionally (latest version sync whichever thought holds last edited version or content)
    • Sync this thought with another brain uni-directionally (the identical thought in the other brain always acts as a backup)
      • For backup mode, define a number of copies of changed content within the thought
    • Be able…

  15. Hello TheBrain Team,

I’d love a native daily journaling / calendar view in TheBrain.

Right now, to keep a daily log I manually create thoughts like 2025-12-17 (optionally under 2025 → 2025-12), link a Today thought, and paste a journaling template into each new day. It works, but it’s clunky compared to “open calendar → click date → type.”

    What I’m asking for:

Calendar view for a chosen journal thought

Select a “Journal root” (e.g. Journal – Daily Logs) and see a calendar.
Clicking a date opens or creates a daily thought (e.g. 2025-12-17) and its notes.
    Automatic daily thought…

  16. The ChatGPT integration into Brain was in my opinion pure genius. Kudos to Harlan, Shelly, Matt, and all the engineers who made this possible.

Now could you do the same with others besides ChatGPT?

X.com AI integration would open TheBrain, in way I can only imagine.

    Thanks

  17. Hi, I looked into the roadmap for version 15 and didn't see anything about dual screen support for TheBrain. Let me clarify, of course you can have two screens installed and have TheBrain running. But you can't choose to have the plex on one screen and the notes on another. This way you would be able to expand the visual interaction with both areas to the max.
I know there is a lot of people out there that are working on multiple screens, wouldn't it be a great idea to have TheBrain expand across your entire screen(s) field? No more…

  18. The fonts of paragraphs and headings at all levels in the note style can be set individually just like in the theme settings. and it is useful to solve the problem of personalization of notes for users from non-English speaking countries by directly calling the fonts installed in the system, especially to solve the problem of abnormal rendering of English characters when mixing Chinese and English, which is more conducive to the internationalization of TheBrain.

  19. (1) HIDE the admin features from public (logged out) view. Public readers of a shared brain do not need access to these features, and they only add to the confusion of an already unusual interface.
    * To-Do List
    * Reports

    (2) Move the Home icon to the far left of the toolbar (between the name of the brain and the thought type icon). This is where most users are going to look when they want to navigate back home.

    (3) Move the Pins icon back to its previous location, immediately to the right of the tags icon. From a design…

  20. One click to link all thoughts in a note. This will also serve to reactivate dead links (which happens when you merge thoughts then delete forgotten).
