Drag and Drop Outlook email into TheBrain as a thought
In earlier versions of TheBrain on Mac (and windows) it was possible to drag an email from Outlook onto the TheBrain plex and it would create a Thought with the email as a link. So one could then click on the thought and open the email in outlook enabling immediate replies. It would be great if this were possible along with pasting into the thought notes the content of the email so it could be edited, hashtags added and comments added etc. Along with adding tasks so that the email can be researched, replied to, added to project thoughts etc.
3 votesIf you are using the latest version of Outlook, this is already working. You do not have to "download email as a .msg file and then find that file name (in downloads) then drag and drop it onto TheBrain"

Support for Markdown code block language identifier
The integrated text editor ("Edit as text") supports the code block language identifier (language tag / info string):
```json { "a": 42 } ```But after saving and exiting the editor, the closing fence is stripped:
```json { "a": 42 }and markup is broken.
This behavior destruct markdown markup in pasted text.

Export Files to Single Folder
When explorting files to folders, it would be great to have a checkbox in the dialogue, in additional to "selected files", for "export to a single folder".
Often when I store files, like papers from a conference, in my megabrain, I store as individual thoughts with one file per thought and the thought reflecting the filename. However, when I export a selection, 99+% of the time, I want to export into a single folder. I can't recall ever wanting to export those conference papers for example into 150 folders each with one file.
I've always just naturally had to select…
4 votesThis already exists: Select the thoughts containing the attachment. File > Export > Markdown Files. Inside the output folder is a subfolder, "attachments" containing all of the attachments from the selected thoughts.

Version 15.0.539.0. bug on may Macbook pro desktop app
I open the brain on the following thought (see screenshot). The thought contains a note with many tables (see share: https://app.thebrain.com/s/gilbrain/overall-ranking-by-ai):
The output.log does not load - I guess too big >10MB
A. The note handling becomes very slow and unresponsive.
B. After a while the the plex and note disappear (see screenshot).
I must close and reopen the brain to restore seeing the brain but situation repeats.1 voteProblems with editing and viewing tables inside of notes have been fixed - look for a notice in release notes when they make it to production, likely in prior to version 15.0.550.

Bring thebrain 14 timeline back
To the TheBrain Team,
Please restore the classic TheBrain 14 bottom timeline view (or provide an option to enable it in TheBrain 15). Many of us relied on that persistent timeline for fast, visual navigation of our work over time, and the current alternatives do not offer the same clarity or efficiency. Bringing this timeline back, even as an optional legacy view, would preserve long‑established workflows and significantly improve usability for long‑time users.
Thank you

Calendar doesn't show items in timeline mode... a bug?
Updated to Version 15.0.577.0. I have items on my calendar, mainly reminder from my MacOS / iOS, but also a newly entered meeting. However these are not shown on the time line. See screenshots.

Extra white-space in Attachment display
In Compact Attachment Display mode, it reduces the attachment display size so you can see more file names and more of each file name. There is still extra white-space between the file names, leading to a smaller number of files being displayed

API for local brains
I would like to have the API not only for webbrains but for local brains on the computer that are not necessarily synced to the cloud...
0 votesWow! Good timing. We just happened to be finishing this up at the same time you requested it. I just came here to see if there were any requests for it now that it is out. :)

Bring back "Copy Local Thought URL" into TB15--- Sorely needed!!!
Before I upgraded from TB14 to TB15, I could right-click a thought and it included the option "Copy Local Thought URL" in addition to "Copy Web Thought URL". This is very important for linking thoughts into text block and also linking thoughts from other brains.
2 votesPressing shift (option on Mac) shows this command.

Dynamically choose internal/external browser
I'd like to be able to open the internal/ or default external browser based on right-click drop down choice when clicking url's. It would be nice to have the ability to dynamically select by toggle button or right click action...
1 voteThis is already possible. Right click then... "View" for the internal browser or "Open" for the external browser.

Copy/Replace
When pasting structured export-formatted text into an existing thought that already contains recurring child labels, TheBrain 15 beta does not offer the prior copy/replace resolution behavior seen in v14. Instead, it creates duplicate or triplicate child thoughts immediately. This breaks workflows that rely on stable repeated structural node names.

With AI, I want Talk to my Brain
I've been doing this with chatgpt where I add my extensive notes as training data and explore ideas with the AI in a oral conversational level.
the AI reminds me on the notes that I've written down but forgot about and the AI helps me compare and add to the ideas that I have
I'd like to have this feature with TheBrain.
10 votesCerebro AI in v15 enables this an much more.

When hovering over search results show related notes with search term(s) highlighted.
In v.14 this is standard performance so I can see if the related note is what I am looking for.
In v.15 you have to either open one result at the time to see the note content, or add all results to selection and then open them one by one.3 votesThis was recently added to v15.

Manual Sorting for Thoughts
Add the ability to manually sort thoughts under a parent.
Currently can use hidden numbering, however this is hard to maintain if the sorting needs to be adjusted, especially changing number in the middle of the sort.77 votesThanks for all the feedback on this one. Drag and drop re-ordering of thoughts in the plex while in the normal layout is included in 15.0.533 - see the release notes for more details. The ability to drag while in other layouts is in the works.

Restore plex and notes zoom.
On 15.0.95.0 running on macOS Sierra desktop plex and notes zoom are missing. No pinch/expand; no Command + "+/-", no dropdown menu picks. If there is a way to control the size of text (other than overriding the screen resolution, which is generally unacceptable), please make it obvious.
Thanks.
3 votesThere are now dedicated controls to set the text size of both the plex and the notes independently. Thanks.

Please make the following changes to the web client interface
(1) HIDE the admin features from public (logged out) view. Public readers of a shared brain do not need access to these features, and they only add to the confusion of an already unusual interface.
* To-Do List
* Reports(2) Move the Home icon to the far left of the toolbar (between the name of the brain and the thought type icon). This is where most users are going to look when they want to navigate back home.
(3) Move the Pins icon back to its previous location, immediately to the right of the tags icon. From a design…

Add Context-sensitive Thought Names functionality to the brain 15
I cannot find the setting to hide the parent thought in context-sensitive child thought names in TheBrain 15. I very much like that economical view and hope it can be added soon if it has not already been added.

Context sensitive thought names (on by default)

New feature: custom font
To the dev team:
All the bundled fonts are for English. So this is not friendly for the Chinese content .
Can you add some opensource Chinese font as the bundled font
Eg. https://github.com/lxgw/LxgwWenKai/tree/main/fonts/TTF
The above font is An unprofessional open-source Chinese font.
Or can you add the function to import the custom font, then use the uploaded font for the content in Note panel?
Thanks a lot.
1 voteVersion 15.0.534 includes the ability to use any font you install on your device.
