  1. I've been doing this with chatgpt where I add my extensive notes as training data and explore ideas with the AI in a oral conversational level.

the AI reminds me on the notes that I've written down but forgot about and the AI helps me compare and add to the ideas that I have

I'd like to have this feature with TheBrain.

  2. I cannot find the setting to hide the parent thought in context-sensitive child thought names in TheBrain 15. I very much like that economical view and hope it can be added soon if it has not already been added.

  3. Frequently, when scrolling through notes on the iOS app, an unintended tap is registered, causing the application to enter edit mode.

I would appreciate the addition of a setting that allows users to disable tap-to-edit functionality, so that entering Edit mode requires using the Pencil button.

  4. For beginners, TheBrain could become easier to use with a more guided onboarding experience and simplified default settings. A step-by-step tutorial that demonstrates creating, linking, and organizing thoughts would help new users quickly understand the basics. Pre-made templates for common use cases—like project planning, personal knowledge management, or journaling—would reduce the learning curve. Clearer visual cues, such as icons or color-coded categories, could make navigation more intuitive. Contextual tips and an integrated help assistant would provide guidance without overwhelming users. Overall, combining simplicity with gradual exposure to advanced features would make TheBrain more beginner-friendly while retaining its depth.

  5. I noticed on the presentation which Matt offered about Version 15, the "Thought Properties" on his Windows machine were turned off. This should be available on the Mac, or a clean look.

  6. Add the ability to sort Thoughts by Note word count (the number of words in a Note associated to a Thought). This way we can immediately tell, among a large number of Thoughts, which have notes with more or less content, thereby determining the importance of the Thought/Note.

  7. You could create a separate section like the timeline section and have a spot where you can plug in where in the world something might have happened. There are opensource Google Earth-type websites out there with free data and low-poly Earth spheres. Would be just an extra feature to be able to input and export data with, which I believe is one of TheBrain's biggest strengths.

  8. Hi all, really excited about the new release. My request involves having a folder on the filesystem that is watched and any markdown files inside this folder are automatically added as children of the folder thought in TheBrain. Ideally, this would also support a kind of bi-directional sync or live view of the markdown files so no matter which tool they are worked on (e.g. TheBrain, markdown editors, etc) the thoughts in TheBrain contain (or can point to and display) the latest version of the file.

I know this has been mentioned a few times in forums but doesn't seem…

  9. I'd like to suggest another level of permission for Team Brain, which I'm considering for a client as an organizational learning tool.

I don't want anybody to be able to change everything, either intentionally or accidentally.

But I want everyone to be able to contribute.

Would a drafter / commenter permission be possible? Where a user could add a thought, but not delete other thoughts? Writer / Administers could edit and add the though.

  10. The ability to query the whole brain and all brains similarly to what Recall has done. And then the ability to add the answer as a new thought to the Brain.

  11. I make extensive use of jump thoughts, as they are also a wonderful way to display the (previously selected) elements of the current thought to which they are attached. And since there is a keyboard shortcut for creating such a jump thought, it is a fairly straightforward way to add them, but only as long as the jump thought does not already exist somewhere in the Brain. Then the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-K no longer works and no jump thought is created. And if I explicitly click on “+ Create jump”, a new thought with the same name will be created,…

  12. At least I guess that it can only be a bug:
I make extensive use of jump thoughts, as they are also a wonderful way to display all the topics of a thought to which they are attached - sort of a keyword index/overview for a given thought.

In order to create one, I use the corresonding keyboard shortcut (Ctrl-K). Pretty straightforward - but only if the thought to be created does not already exist (somewhere in the brain). Because when you then select the already existing thought from the selection window, a link is created but NOT the corresponding…

  13. Make the lines of a YouTube video's table of contents “clickable/usable”
    Just as an example:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTSRx78Aac8
When you click on this link, you will see a YouTube video – like millions of others. Then click on “More” and you will (hopefully) see a few lines that represent the content of the video (like a table of contents) and the corresponding time code at the beginning of each line.
This makes it easy to jump to a specific point in a longer video.
I would be delighted if theBrain would one day retain these links when I insert text like this…

  14. Note: This is a general idea, I'm not suggesting the features should work exactly like how I laid out, but more what end result / function should be strived for (ie. chronologically organizing information in a more selective way)

    To provide context:
I'm interested in mapping connections / relationships between individuals. It's very important to be able to do this, as understanding relationships between individuals is critical for analysing potential conflicts of interest, including historically.

The individuals are the bedrock "child thoughts" of my brain.

Their parent thoughts will be things which bundle people together such as organisations, movements, maybe…

  15. While in the note editor on desktop and iPad, allow us to use a selective filter that can select OR filter text with certain attributes such as:

    • All text in the note that has any background color
    • or a certain background color or set of background colors
    • optionally bolded, or italicized or a certain heading level or other style attribute

Once this has been filtered, allow us to create a thought attached to the current thought (child, parent or jump) with the filtered text as the new thought's note including the source text's style attributes intact. The filtered text can…

  16. Color coding text and text backgrounds is important to my work. Allow me to type a keyboard sequence to set the background color or text color in the note editor such as: command-shift-B-2-3-return to set background color to the light orange background appearing at column 3 and row 2 of the color picker. This will allow me to quickly learn and use a common set of sequences for the colors I use most often. While typing the sequence, the color picker should highlight the first item of the column and then the chosen row. If I wish to change the…

  17. It would be nice to be able to have a switch in settings to toggle on/off labels in the web browser as scrolling over the Thoughts in the browser with labels popping up can be distracting and overwhelming visually.

  18. It would be super helpful if there were an option to hide thought types in the plex on iOS. Occasionally I accidentally tap on a thought type and it causes the app to hang for 10+ minutes if the type is used frequently.

  20. I’d like to suggest an enhancement that would significantly improve workflow efficiency and keyboard accessibility.
When modifying an event and dismissing the properties popup, a contextual menu appears with four choices: Cancel, Only this, All the following, and All in the series. Currently, these options require mouse interaction or multi-step keyboard navigation.
It would be incredibly helpful if each option could be activated with a single keystroke—specifically c, o, a, and s—corresponding to the first letter of each item. This lightweight mnemonic-style activation would eliminate the need to switch between mouse and keyboard, making it easier to stay in flow…
