  1. Now that we can enlarge distant Thoughts to normal size, there seems no reason why links to them shouldn't be able to be unfaded too, but the "Fade distant" option seems to apply only to Thought names.

    I suggest that "Fade distant" be applied to both distant Thoughts and distant links, or to neither. Alternatively, rename "Fade distant" to "Fade distant Thoughts" and have a separate option "Fade distant links".

    Another problem with obligatory fading of distant links is that if the user finds normal link colors too bright, especially when highlighted, and dims the color a bit by making…

  2. Just as we can suppress the Active Thought Indicator, I'd like to see either a single master checkbox, or separate checkboxes, to suppress all these animations:

    • creeping white dotted line around selected Thoughts;
    • expanding supernova ring when URL is activated;
    • slowly rising yellow banner after copying Thoughts (replaced by status bar message)
    • collapsing rings around newly created thoughts (replaced by a single ring - see forum discussion)

    Since at least one user who shall remain nameless actually enjoys them, I would like to see these made optional rather than removed. Making them optional also allows us to re-enable them to…

  3. When hovering over Thoughts in Plex, or using keyboard to navigate, being able to Lock the selected, non-active Thought would be a great way of ensuring its Note could be edited safely and also use the mouse for editing it instead of just marking its place in the plex.

  4. Currently when clicking "Set as Home Thought", nothing is displayed to tell us whether we were successful. I'd like to see a little popup window saying "Home Thought set" or similar, and vanishing after 1 second. Or maybe a creep-on, creep-off status bar message.

    If you ever implement our suggestion for assigning bookmark status to the PgUp, PgDn and End keys (using keyboard accelerators), I'd like to see similar confirmatory messages displayed.

  5. I am importing many _____ For example mindmaps) and for each import must navigate away from theBrains default location. Would save a lot of time if each file location could be altered via a preference option!

  6. From 5.5.1.5 Ctrl+H has been withdrawn as a kbd accelerator as it turns out it is an alternative shortcut for Backspace. Since there must be very few keyboards without a backspace key, who would want to use Ctrl+H when a single key (backspace) does the same job? On the other hand, Ctrl+H is very easy to reach and deserves a more active life. So please restore it as an accelerator.

  8. Custom Report will now become so popular that it's essential that we have a keyboard accelerator so we can jump straight to it without having to open the Reports pane first, then drill down.

  9. There's no reason why linking ONE Thought to ONE Thought should have to pass through the Selection Box. This is very inefficient. The Selection Box is efficient only when it comes to linking more than one Thought to the Active Thought.

    The alternative method is to drag a pinned Thought to the Active Thought (or drag a link from it), but this only works in Normal View, and still requires pinning first, so there's no economy there.

    What's badly needed is a one-step operation, from any non-active Thought to the Active Thought.

  10. The default link thickness is set way too thin and this looks much worse when the Plex is scrolled to enlarge the font. Amazingly, the user is completely unable to set the thickness of default links, which would save wasting a lot of link types each time a particular link needs to be thickened.

  11. A set of 11 accelerators named
    Bookmarks > Set as #1
    ...
    Bookmarks > Set as #5
    Bookmarks > Activate #1
    ...
    Bookmarks > Activate #5
    Bookmarks > Clear all

    This would take care of our temporary bookmarking needs. Along with the Pinned Thoughts List, Past Thoughts list and Tags, would cover all our bookmark needs.

  12. hi to all

    anybody an idea of how to do this?
    Imagine you're looking at a website that holds some interesting information on a topic that you "brained".
    Now instead of copy/paste of drag/drop I'd love to have for example a keystroke (via a service or applescript for example) that would allow me to "ditch" that link into the brain for later reviewing.

    any suggestions?

  14. This should be either an accelerator or an Options > Preference checkbox, preferably the latter so the user doesn't have to keep hitting a key each time.

    Advantages of having this:
    1) Allows user to type or tag newly created Thoughts as his next step without having to first add them to Selection himself, a process which takes several steps;

    2) Enables positive, persistent identification of newly created thoughts (by means of dotted border around them), which works even in Expanded View.

  15. If a non-active Thought in Expanded View has 50 children, but we only want to expand it parentwards, we should be able to do that and prevent its children from flooding the Plex.

    I suggest clicking any of a non-active Thought's gates in Expanded View should expand only the thoughts linked to that gate, and shift-clicking it should collapse only the thoughts linked to that gate. This would make Expanded View immeasurably more user-friendly.

  17. This would give the capability of having a color assigned to all tags for a Theme. This could then be used to identify the source .brain for a tag when we copy tags to other .brain files if we develop .brain-specific themes. Another way we could use this is if we use Themes to denote a particular mode (area of focus in GTD).
