  1. Wander through a selection of thoughts. The wander speed between different thoughts of the train can be set. Ideal to give presentations! We just need a specific thought type that registers the selection and wander speed.

  2. Add a Keywords field to Properties & Attachments to store keywords, aka aliases. Keywords in this field to be available to Instant Search.

Even better, P&A to be added to Create Child Dialog box so all data can be entered before new thought created, not afterwards.

  3. Have PB operate in offline mode automatically or by a setting:

I use PB on my laptop and my work brain has several thoughts that point to network resources. When I use the brain undocked, it freezes for almost 1 minute when accessing a parent thought that may have child thoughts pointing to network files or directories.

I'm not sure if this is actually a bug or flaw but I have contacted support and they just acknowledged this happens. However, this makes my most important brain virtually unusable undocked and off the network.

  5. Sometimes, when I am working under a central Thought, I want to open an E-mail attached or invoke a program linked to another distant Thought. Then I use instant activation search. But I need to go back after opening the wanted attachment.
In such a situation, a setting of opening attachments without Thought activation can make it quicker--"two clicks saved". A "Shift+Click" or "Ctrl+Click" way can be used to achieve this.

  6. While using PersonalBrain, we add and update Thoughts manually. If we have dynamic Thoughts, these tasks may be done automatically. Here I mean Thoughts with code binded: a function in an external dll or exe executed periodically.
When the corresponding code is executed, result is returned as a predefined xml file, then content in the file added to the Thought as its children. Before adding the new Thoughts, a dialogue can show up for overwrite or keep existing Thoughts.

  8. It would be very helpful to have a Back and Forward in the right-click menu on empty space in the plex. Often times i simply need to move back to my last thought and find myself right-clicking like I do in FireFox and IE. I am not fond of going to the upper left corner of the toolbar to hit the back arrow each time in PB or my browsers.

  9. I've read in several places that "Spotlight integration is already completed in version 5.0.0.9", but that's not true. Yes, you can search Spotlight -from- PB. But you could do that the long way already: by going all the way up to the Spotlight icon on the menu bar...

The more interesting integration is the other way round! I want to find my PB thoughts in Spotlight, the same way I find address cards, e-mails, and documents today. As of 5.0.2, you index the attachments, but not the thoughts themselves.

    Please index the thoughts!

  10. I suspect that many users, like myself, have large amounts of information on external hard drives and other storage devices. These data can be connected to thoughts in the Personal Brain as virtual folders but the ease of working with virtual folders is limited because they cannot be assigned thought types, tags, or icons. I would like to find out whether at least the tagging feature can be added to virtual thoughts to facilitate managing information stored externally.

  11. What about a command for apple laptops that allows the screen to be blacked out between slides while using the Brain in presentations? It's somewhat distracting to keep it up between slides.

  14. We all want The Brain to succeed in the Mind Mapping arena and to continually improve incorporating many of our "suggestions". Many improvement ideas are so good that they could give competitive advantage to other products. I think that Brain Technologies, should recognize and reward the winning ideas and when a new updated version of the Brain comes out, upgrade the few users that contributed to its continued success with FREE Brain license.

  15. Since PersonalBrain works as a search engine for personal information, it should have a search history like ordinary search engine.

  16. Add "Label" to Arrange Thoughts by menu so I can order thoughts as I please by cleverly filling the label field. I also suggest having multiple and numbered Label fields (e.g., Label 1, Label 2, etc. and being able to arrange thoughts by any one of these fields. All non-blank label fields will be displayed on mouse-over.

  17. When "crawling the brain" you cannot set the search path finely enough. For example scenario #2 in this post cannot be done:

    http://thebrain.uservoice.com/pages/general/suggestions/129320-search-within-x-hops-of-active-thought

Here what I would like to be able to do:

Start searching the children of a given active node. And then I would like that search path to crawl the children's jump and parent nodes (excluding the active node). Current the system is limited to crawling only one set of directions. Unfortunately if I want to crawl and find other alternate parents of the child nodes of an active node it cannot be done. This is also…

  18. It would be very handy to be able to freeze a brain view and use a grease marker / highlighter (multiple colors and line styles). This view could then be saved (like expanded views are) with the markings for future reference. Ideally the view could be saved as an image as well.

  20. Firefox has "Open all in tabs" feature. One of my Brains is a Bookmarks Manager, useful because no other BM is multiparent, so I'd like to be able to hang several URLs off a Thought, then open them all with one click. Maybe set up Shift+click or Ctrl+click to do this?
