Please bring back user defined sort order in plex
I work with medical data that has its own structure which does not lend itself to the current sorting features. If the other features of the current release were not so compelling in other areas I'd be back to good old PB3 in a flash for that feature alone. I'm begging here! ;-}

This is a feature that really limits the flexibility of the progam. Surely, whenever we have lists of things, the user will sometimes want to sort them in a logical order - which may not be alphabetical.
I know it can be done with types, but it is a limiting workaround. Even if there was some sort of separate set of tags to enable sorting would be more useful.

For some thoughts I don't care about the sorting of the child thoughts. However, I have many thoughts whose child thoughts should appear in a certain order. I therefore support this feature. Sorting should be either manual or based on properties of the thought.

i had forgotten that i am a member of this forum, until i received notice of the latest posts. i stopped using PB about 6 months ago, because of frustration with the interface (user defined sort order, thoughts moving to different positions when adding a new one, expanded view non functional, etc)..

Would it be possible for the developer to comment on this (to date / 399 vote) request? To deny the addition of this feature seems inexplicable to many of us, but perhaps there is a valid reason? I am sure that even a brief response would be of interest...

How is the simplest possible feature for organization not in a piece of $300 software touted as the apex of organizational software? This has been in the forums for years now. I should be able to just right click hold down a key and move to wherever i want. Done. Theres so many obviously simple features lacking that my excitement for this has quickly turned to frustration.

Looks to me like this (simple?) request is becoming an issue of confidence in the developers. This is still I think early days for this kind of software. TheBrain must listen to users to move forward. For that reason, I cast my vote for user defined ordering.

I too would love to be able to determine order of child thoughts. I just downloaded v6, with great excitement...and now am remembering why I stopped using v4...

Three more votes Tim. Don't Uninstall!!!! Create a campaign to get more attention. When someone says "No" just call someone else or keep plugging.

i've commented on lack of customization of user interface for some time. i agree, that this may be the reason that PB in not more widely used. not being able to order thoughts, control when parents or children open, now much movement there is on screen, etc. I see reviews of mind managers where PB is not mentioned. They seem to be more focused on features that have a wow factor during demos.

My final comment: i've just found out that this request - the third highest - has been around for 2 years at least...clearly the dev isn't listening...this product will always remain just a curiosity by the looks of things...esp at the price!

I note below that the user cwobob wanted to use TheBrain at the uni, but couldn't because of the lack of this feature...it's apparently been sought for years, without implementation...is the developer arrogant or something?

PS I used this product way back in about 1999, and I liked the basic concept then and the way it looked, but it is still not PRACTICAL...hence the reason it isn't a household name like it could be.

Closing down and uninstalling now.

I definitely won't be buying this until this is included. The product is useless to me without it!..You can't order the nodes the way YOU want? That's ridiculous ! The whole POINT of this product is to ORGANISE information the way YOU want. It is NOT doing it currently without that feature - which I'm surprised to find is not there. Considering the very high price, that's embarrassing.

oh yeah, here are 3 more votes, should it matter.

good luck with that request Liz. people have been asking for it for a long time. PB is great for putting info in, and finding info, but the lack of ability to customize the user interface: not being able to order thoughts (and have them remain ordered), control which thoughts remain visible or not, not have everything move around when a thought is added or opened, is one reason that i don't use it much anymore. Expanded view was intended to fix some of these issues but it has so many problems that it is unusable.

I am finding so many great applications for this program, but the only big annoyance is the lack of a means of quickly (or at all) ordering - (e.g. 1, 2, 3,..., or simply manually rearranging) - how a group of child thoughts appear. I'm still on my free trial, but were it not for this problem I wouldn't hesitate in buying the Pro right now.

I find customised ordering in the likes of MindMap to be a key feature which must be fairly easy to implement. The lack of this capability is probably the only current significant weakness for the more technical users. Would be nice to customise order child thoughts then have an option to auto number in a range of formats (e.g. decimal, alpha, roman numeral etc.)
Ps this is wish list stuff; still think PB6 is awesome; congratulations on the journey so far and thanks for listening :-) -

I would think that for $150 this should be a fairly basic function. One
that I might add, for me, kills the the functionality of the whole.
I will vote with my feet. -

Thoughts doesent come sorted by name, date or last used..they just come..
This feature is essential in order take full advantage of the application.
