Enable AI prompts to use content from TheBrain thoughts.
This would be a GAME CHANGER for me. I understand TheBrain uses an External AI tool to generate its responses and that it does not use the content of the brain as a custom large language model (though that should be a long term aim!). However, it should surely be easy to create a custom prompt that retrieves information from the Brain that can form part of the prompt that is sent externally.
For example, with AI tools I am currently creating prompts like, "Summarise the following", "Show any common threads in" etc and then I copy paste the content…6 votes -
reminders iOS/android/mobile
I would love to use the reminder feature more - but I tend to use iOS (mobile) for this kind of thing and desktop brain reminders don't work unless I am at the computer on thebrain.....
Until now, google cal integration and reminders have been different - so something were I can get my brain notifications on iOS. In app push server support, maybe?
Also option for daily reminder email with todays/upcomming reminders would be good.
It would help my ASD/ADHD brain a load!

Implement Hashtags for searching and potentially interoperable with TB Tags
1) As a user, I would like to search on hashtags that exist in included markdown documents or that I might add to Brain notes. Currently special characters like # are stripped out of search
2) As a user, I would like hashtags to work interoperable with Tags. Any found hashtags would show up in the Tags menu. This would greatly increase interoperability with other markdown tools

Have a local globe where you can enter geo-location coordinates
You could create a separate section like the timeline section and have a spot where you can plug in where in the world something might have happened. There are opensource Google Earth-type websites out there with free data and low-poly Earth spheres. Would be just an extra feature to be able to input and export data with, which I believe is one of TheBrain's biggest strengths.

I would like the ability to change a group of thoughts to a type or tag. Currently you have to do this one at a time.
When changing a thought to a type or tag you have to do it individually. It would be good to grab a group of thoughts and allow the ability to change the group to a type or tag.

Advanced search - find thoughts that have the same relationships with "n" number of other thoughts
Implement an "Advanced Search" button/capability where more than one thoughts (or fragments of thought names) can be specified. Example:
The Adv Srch form would open with one entry: a search box for entry of text, a dropdown button labeled "relationship" with values of parent|child|jump, and a button with a + to add an additional search entry line. Any number of search entry lines could be added. The default would be "all" logic in that the search would return all thoughts for which all the search entries are true. Perhaps an "any" option could/should be included.6 votes -
Friendlier match indications when searching notes & PDFs
After searching a note or PDF and matching some items, when clicking the next or previous match arrows, display the current match number next to the total matches count so that you can see where you are in the list of matches.
Display the matching item positions in the file as highlight lines on the scroll bar (and ideally allow clicking on a highlight line in the scrollbar to go to that match)

reports allow date placeholders and calculations
Currently in the web version and mobile version, the report conditions show as text which can be adjusted.
It would be nice in all versions (mobile, web and desktop) if you could set a placeholder for the date and perform calculations.
For example:
created:"06/10/2025 - 06/11/2025"
Could become
created:"({now} -7) - {now}"This would allow me to save the report and then when I pull up the saved report it will always give me the thoughts created in the last 7 days.

Adding a set of more meaningful export options (visuals, presentation, interoperabiity)
I wish all the work I put up and all the great results I can achieve with TheBrain could be exported in some more meaningful (presentational, interoperable) formats.
I am thinking of things like OPML, multi-thought PDFs including image references to the plex, visuals of the Plex – also local areals, and more linear ones like mind-/concept maps), ways to have slides as output etc.
I am sure others will have some more ideas.
But I feel the current set of export options of TheBrain makes it a very "mute" endpoint of knowledge processes in a lot of scenarios.

BrainBox full text capture local-only (not via WebBrain)
I use the BrainBox Safari and Chrome extensions a lot on macOS. In TheBrain 15 BrainBox is working better than ever. But, I rarely use WebBrain. To get a full-text capture (not just the URL) I have to (1) create a new thought on the desktop Brain, (2) wait for a sync, (3) wait for WebBrain to sync, (4) capture the page with the BrainBox extension, (5) from the BrainBox dialog in the broswer select the full text capture option, (6) select the thought I want the capture to be a child of (and hope that the indexing is finished),…

Filter a view that would show only pending to do items.
Filter a view to show all pending (or checked) to-do items. Currently, the right-panel tells me how many pending to dos there are, but then shows all items, pending and checked. I'd like to see only pending. Or, I'd like to see only checked.

Have Custom Instructions for the AI prompt
Custom Instructions are like standing instructions to the AI tool that apply to every prompt. OpenAI calls them Custom Instructions, you might use a different name like default or something. For me I would dictate a style of response and the use of bullets.

Create an integration with IFTTT/Zapier to allow for automated workflows
Custom Actions such as to create a throught, maybe in a particular place or with a particular parent throught (by ID if needed) as I'm sure not all throughts would be available in a drop down.

Watched Folder of Markdown Files
Hi all, really excited about the new release. My request involves having a folder on the filesystem that is watched and any markdown files inside this folder are automatically added as children of the folder thought in TheBrain. Ideally, this would also support a kind of bi-directional sync or live view of the markdown files so no matter which tool they are worked on (e.g. TheBrain, markdown editors, etc) the thoughts in TheBrain contain (or can point to and display) the latest version of the file.
I know this has been mentioned a few times in forums but doesn't seem…

New Calendar Function
I would actually like to plot out when I created thoughts. It would be a different perspective on my thought creations. I don't need it to connect to an actual calendar item like Google Calendar, I just want to see a dot on a timeline that shows me what thoughts I created on a specific date.
That way, if I know I was working on a project back in April, I can slide the slider to April, then see a set of dots for each thought I created in April. Have it zoom into the day, hour, minute or as…

Add Context-sensitive Thought Names functionality to the brain 15
I cannot find the setting to hide the parent thought in context-sensitive child thought names in TheBrain 15. I very much like that economical view and hope it can be added soon if it has not already been added.

Bring thebrain 14 timeline back
To the TheBrain Team,
Please restore the classic TheBrain 14 bottom timeline view (or provide an option to enable it in TheBrain 15). Many of us relied on that persistent timeline for fast, visual navigation of our work over time, and the current alternatives do not offer the same clarity or efficiency. Bringing this timeline back, even as an optional legacy view, would preserve long‑established workflows and significantly improve usability for long‑time users.
Thank you

Actionable Grid View (as alternative Plex view)
As an alternate to the Plex (I don't see using both at same time) have a filterable list (think simple spreadsheet or grid) where you can filter and sort columns. Columns would be adjustable but at minimum Thought Name, Type, Tags, Create Date, Update Date, Attachment Exists. You would select on the grid and the note would be visible. The idea is you could mass update Tags and Types, or you could rapidly move through a list of notes.
This is discussed here
