  1. I would love to be able to search my TheBrain thoughts with the MacOS spotlight search and when clicking on a result to open it up in TheBrain. This would help my workflows tremendously. Please upvote.

  2. I'd love to see an iOS widget for TheBrain that displays the note content of a selected thought and another option to list the last x number of created, modified, or accessed thoughts. I'm only asking to show the data. Tapping on the note would bring you to the thought note in TheBrain, and tapping the thought name in the list option would open that thought.

Apple Notes widgets are excellent examples of a thought note content widgets. I've attached an example of the Thought Note Content.

Widgets enable background sync for the app on iOS, which could be an…

  3. Bring back partial search requests. Or use a single-digit wildcard to fill in missing info.

I used to be able to search for the last few characters of a string but that option has been removed in one of the updates.

Searching is now harder to use and find things.

    For example:

"What is that 4444 number I saved? I forget. It's like 855, or 866-555-4444. Or is it 800?"

Search for 4444... nothing shows up.
Search for 8665554444... nothing shows up (because I forgot to add dashes)

In the older versions, I could find something like that easily.

    The…

  4. The ChatGPT integration into Brain was in my opinion pure genius. Kudos to Harlan, Shelly, Matt, and all the engineers who made this possible.

Now could you do the same with others besides ChatGPT?

X.com AI integration would open TheBrain, in way I can only imagine.

    Thanks

  5. Treat eml files like PDFs. Just show the to, subject, sent date, and body fields as if it were a PDF like document. I know that there have been a number of discussions on this subject, and the hangup seems to come down to issues with an email client. The common denominator is the eml file format. Allow us to attach it to a thought and view it's contents without launching an external app. Let us worry about how we get the eml file in the first place.

  6. This would convey the importance or influence of an item. Optionally this could be done based on the number of clicks an item has. I think the basic concept has been termed "tag cloud" or "word cloud".

  8. In addition to the essential Two Factor Authentication capability implemented, we should have management of Brain installations available from account settings. This particular admin capability should also specifically require 2FA to open and then allow remote management / remote delete of brains / remote un-installation etc.

The use-case example is installing TheBrain on additional devices for use with online or local brains but in case of loss of tablet or a device, TheBrain should be able to be managed remotely from the user account so that should TheBrain be opened by a third party on a lost device, the software…

  9. I have used The Brain for years, but like many people I can't install programs on my work computer and must rely on the Web Client that syncs with the local installation on my personal computer. Backlinks and mentions are critical features for me, but they are not displayed on the Web Client. I would expect there are many in my situation who really want these features on the Web Client as well. Thanks for considering this.

  10. Note editor should be improved. I’m using Logseq as an outliner instead of the Brain because in TB you can’t contract and expanded outlined Note. The contracted outline will be expanded by default when you open the note again.

  13. I'm a primarily keyboard user. My mouse usage is very sparingly. (Keyboard navigation is much faster)

One of my biggest complaints when using the option "update displayed content on mouse hover or keyboard highlight", is that the mouse location takes precedence.

The issue is the thoughts content preview doesn't work as expected when navigating with the keyboard. If the mouse happens to already be in the area where another thought comes into during the reposition process after activating a thought, then that thought content is shown. Because the content preview is not the new positioned center thought, but the thought…

  16. Adding footnotes to exported reports/pdf. I understand that MATH functions of laytext work in the notes editor. Could latex functions like \footnote[N]{foot note text} and or \textit{italic text goes here} be added to the report export function. Love the note editor however it does not quite yet replace a word processor. Work around is to write in editors then cut and paste to laytxt.

  17. When using the Redo function in the AI assitant of the notes editor it would be helpful to have access to the last prompt entered. Often a Redo implies a change or refinement of the last prompt. Currently one has to reenter the complete previous prompt (and to remember the exact previous wording).

  19. Currently the only outlining features available in notes are
    1. Create structured or unstructured notes
    2. You can move a line up & down using keyboard shortcuts

  20. Custom Instructions are like standing instructions to the AI tool that apply to every prompt. OpenAI calls them Custom Instructions, you might use a different name like default or something. For me I would dictate a style of response and the use of bullets.
