  1. There may be some coding reason for not allowing hyperlinks inserted into Notes to be opened using a single Left-click, as we normally find on Web pages and even some word processors. Having to use 2 hands to open a Notes hyperlink (by pressing Ctrl+Click) is clumsy and wastes time repositioning the hands afterwards.

If it's possible to allow users the choice to open Notes hyperlinks using a single click, please do so. Otherwise, if this creates a coding problem, please allow double-clicking to do this. Double-clicking needs only one hand and some mice have buttons that can be programmed…

  3. Allow quick entry of unlinked thoughts. Many times want to just jot down ideas for later linking. Having special category "unlinked" thoughts (similar but different from "orphans" since it is deliberate) which can then be linked when user wants. Once a link is created for a new unlinked item it can be auto-removed from "unlinked" group.

  4. Hi Guys,

The main thing about this is that the 'ordered structure' of the parts that make up the thought is kept intact. With the current parent/child system, creating multiple children loses that extra piece of information - which is sometimes quite important. I guess that you can name the children '#1', '#2' etc., but this is not as inituative as having a 'structure' that is clearly laid out. I hope this explanation helps a bit.

So, where would I use it, for example?

Lets say I have decoded part of an Oracle (database) trace file, in particular, a series…

  5. Previously suggested in the abstract, but I wanted to offer a clear rationale and an implementation idea.

Imagine you're searching for Car Stereos with particular features. If you click on the Thought "MP3-CD" you'll see all the child thoughts, fifty different models. That's not what you want to happen. You really want to see the other parents of those fifty, so you can restrict the results further, to stereos with USB or Bluetooth or Satellite, and additional criteria beyond.

To implement this, PB should have a View Toggle that shows Filtered Counters, rather than Children, beneath the active thought. So,…

  6. The hide tag hints option in 5.0.0.9 is great. It just takes too many steps to switch back and forth. I propose that a button be added to the tool bar to show/hide tag hints, so that it can be toggled on and off quickly.

  7. It would be nice to have a menu option (perhaps under the Thought menu) to recenter the expanded view to the currently active thought. This would be helpful to avoid getting lost after panning around a large expanded view.

  8. When creating a new tag in the Tags tab, users should have the option to uncheck the checkbox for making the tag visible in the plex (instead of creating the tag and then immediately editing the tag just to uncheck the box).

  9. Similar to MindManager's send to new map feature, users should be able to select a thought and create a new brain with that thought as the home thought and all (or some depending on user preference) connected thoughts moved or copied to the new brain.

Users could determine what level of connectedness they wanted moved/copied (sibling/peer, child, jump - 1 level or more, etc).

  11. a pain to keep using menus to assign a thought type for ones i constantly reuse. Why not have a "paintbrush" like that in Word to quickly copy a thought type from one thought to other by using the paintbrush. A real time-saver

  12. This would be a significant step forward in searching web clips, pictures. When researching I use SNAGIT 9, to clip snippets of information which retains context of original information source.

  13. Something looks like this:
    http://forums.thebrain.com/tool/post/thebrain/vpost?id=2173443

Too many times when I try to type something in the search box, I found the text was inserted in the notes section.

It would be nice if the search box changes its background color when it got the focus.

  14. I must say that this is one of the most annoying areas of the software...
    - rather than having to click on the thought (sometimes twice) to use mouse wheel to increase the font size (sometimes the active node is out of the view) why not just assign a shortcut key that when pressed along with mouse wheel will adjust font size?
    - along the same idea, another shortcut + MW would make horizontal spacing of nodes in outline and expanded views
    - another shortcut would increase the spacing vertically
    - yet another would make the links longer or shorter…

  15. "Quick way to move a child from one parent to another" is implemented in 5.0.0.8. This is great!

    But as described at here:
    http://forums.thebrain.com/tool/post/thebrain/vpost?id=2758837

Moving a group of thoughts from previous parents to a new parent could still be very time consuming.

Imagine if you have 100 thoughts linked to 10 different parents. Moving these 100 thoughts from their previous parents to a new parent, requires you to locate and unlink their previous 10 parents separately. Sometimes it could be difficult to locate the parents if these thoughts are "not well organized".

So it would be very nice if there…

  18. Personal Brain already has a "Monitor keyboard" and "Monitor clipboard" under ESP. This activates the thoughts automatically. It will be cool to activate thoughts by speaking in a microphone (speech recognition). (I could not edit my previous suggestion to rephrase so I am posting anew. )

  19. Without "usability" features (to quickly do things) features become too time consuming to use. Types and Tags are useful but take too much time use use effectively. The new submenu structure for Types is frustrating because it creates new need to navigate an extra submenu. Submenu frustration is a well known major design flaw in Windows (how many times have you tried to "hit" a submenu only to have to start all over again). The Context menu should include a list of recently used types (and tags) to greatly improve use of those features (other suggestions have focused on the…
