  1. I have several thoughts with several tags and the desktop plex becomes crowded. I would like the option to display the tags and type of a though in the notes and not show on the plex below the thought. I know this works in the web and app version, but I would like it in the desktop version also.

  3. The ChatGPT integration into Brain was in my opinion pure genius. Kudos to Harlan, Shelly, Matt, and all the engineers who made this possible.

Now could you do the same with others besides ChatGPT?

X.com AI integration would open TheBrain, in way I can only imagine.

    Thanks

  4. This functionality would be allow for recurring tasks or scheduled tasks to appear when needed, and stay in the To Do list until clicked/completed. This is a standard feature of all task management software such as apple reminders.

  5. I think adding BrainBox to the right click Context menu on web browsers would be a great and much needed improvement.

Often times I search and find a link I want to add to Brainbox, but don't want to open the URL. I'm well aware of drag and drop, but that does no good when you use apps in full screen, I'm also aware you can Alt+Tab to TheBrain while in full screen while dragging the link, but if you have a lot of apps open, this is not feasible.

Adding BrainBox to the apps area (See SingleFile) of the…

  6. These days, many apps have a feature to customise the toolbar: change sequence of icons or remove and add them. (Originally I was going to ask for a button to breing up the Todo List, but I realise that might only help me - while they real benefit would come if we had an option to just tailor it to our needs)

(Ok, maybe you think there are options that need to be there and maybe you always want them to be in that sequence - then at least give as the option to control a "custom" portion of the…

  10. For example I use ISO format for dates, so 2025, 4 for april, and 2025, 4, 4, as a child thought would be the 4th of April, but that would look different then the 3rd which would look right as only "3", the fourth would be "4, 4"

  11. Allow me as a user to host my own sync service that I can use for air-gapped networks. This would allow me to share my brain with my local devices that cannot directly reach the Internet.

  12. The iOS To Do List doesn't presently allow sorting by Name or Date Modified like the Mac/Windows version of the To Do List does. It's not even clear what sorting logic the iOS list is currently using ... it seems to put modified thoughts at the bottom, but there are confusing inconsistencies. At the very least, it seems like the iOS To Do List should be sorted by Date Modified by default (with To Dos from the last modified notes at the top).

Better still would be to allow for a user-controlled sorting choice, either by Name or Date Modified.

  14. The reporting function allows you to choose a combination of types, tags, and search criteria to return a set of matching Thoughts. Suggestion is to extend this concept to filter the set of visible Thoughts and Links in the Plex.

    Examples:

    • Select the ":Location" type and view the plex geographically, showing customer sites and navigating via cities, countries, and regions. Disable the filter to bring all the other context back.

    • Select either "#Services" or "#Licenses" to view sales opportunities relating to services projects or license sales.

    • Select ":Person" type and "#ReportsTo" tag to generate an org chart view. Add ":Location"…

  15. I would actually like to plot out when I created thoughts. It would be a different perspective on my thought creations. I don't need it to connect to an actual calendar item like Google Calendar, I just want to see a dot on a timeline that shows me what thoughts I created on a specific date.

That way, if I know I was working on a project back in April, I can slide the slider to April, then see a set of dots for each thought I created in April. Have it zoom into the day, hour, minute or as…

  17. Currently the only way to customize thought backgrounds, a valid use case on its own, is by assigning a type that has one associated by it. This renders the typing system useless.

So for my (creative) work flow, I want to assign backgrounds and types, but they are not linked. Types are supposed to work cross cutting across the plex, but this breaks if your background-requirements are not exactly the same.

It would make more sense to have background simply a property of thought itself. Or of tags with some sort of priority system, but that would be complicated in…

  19. The Mindmap Layout is unique in that clicking and activating a node doesn't navigate to it. For bulk thought updates (like renumbering them for example, or mass note updates), this is super useful!

But why not enable this mode of thought activation in any Layout? There's plenty of space next to the Layout button to switch between 'normal' mode and 'locked navigation' mode.

Or else allow a ctrl-shift click on a thought (or similar) to activate without navigating.

  20. This would be a GAME CHANGER for me. I understand TheBrain uses an External AI tool to generate its responses and that it does not use the content of the brain as a custom large language model (though that should be a long term aim!). However, it should surely be easy to create a custom prompt that retrieves information from the Brain that can form part of the prompt that is sent externally.
For example, with AI tools I am currently creating prompts like, "Summarise the following", "Show any common threads in" etc and then I copy paste the content…
