  1. I take notes on the fly using other products and it's a stupid shame that I rarely use TB to do so. Doesn't it make sense to laser focus in on a shortened process for users and potential users to be able to view TB as the ideal note taking product/service that competes head on with the plethora of note taking apps that shall ultimately disappear? I like the idea of The Brain Box being re-imagined as the in-box for ideas and web snapshots to be used later when using TB desktop or web client.

  2. Currently in the web version and mobile version, the report conditions show as text which can be adjusted.
    It would be nice in all versions (mobile, web and desktop) if you could set a placeholder for the date and perform calculations.
    For example:
    created:"06/10/2025 - 06/11/2025"
    Could become
    created:"({now} -7) - {now}"

    This would allow me to save the report and then when I pull up the saved report it will always give me the thoughts created in the last 7 days.

  4. The ability to query the whole brain and all brains similarly to what Recall has done. And then the ability to add the answer as a new thought to the Brain.

  5. Add the ability to manually sort thoughts under a parent.
    Currently can use hidden numbering, however this is hard to maintain if the sorting needs to be adjusted, especially changing number in the middle of the sort.

  6. I would like to be able to tell sync status just by looking at the Cloud icon. I have attached a visual of one possible solution.

    This would be useful in several situations:

    • My Brain is having a sync problem, but I don't realize it until days later. This is because I have to click on the little triangle to see the sync status, but there is nothing to prompt me to do that if I assume sync is automatically happening like it usually does.

    • I'm stepping away from my desk, and want to make sure my latest…

  7. (1) HIDE the admin features from public (logged out) view. Public readers of a shared brain do not need access to these features, and they only add to the confusion of an already unusual interface.
    * To-Do List
    * Reports

    (2) Move the Home icon to the far left of the toolbar (between the name of the brain and the thought type icon). This is where most users are going to look when they want to navigate back home.

    (3) Move the Pins icon back to its previous location, immediately to the right of the tags icon. From a design…

  9. After the experience of the past 5 years people are moving away from large corporations; they no longer trust them. The drive towards independence and personal control is leading to Increasing numbers of people choosing linux. 10. I cannot find the setting to hide the parent thought in context-sensitive child thought names in TheBrain 15. I very much like that economical view and hope it can be added soon if it has not already been added.

  11. Sometimes you have thoughts that have some formal longer name, like there are companies named "International Consolidated Airlines Group SA" in real life. But when you refer to it in your notes with a shorter name, the reference won't be recognized.

    Now, you don't want to fully write out this name each time, but you also don't want to manually create a link each time you write shorter version like "ICAG SA", not only would that be a work-around, often you actually don't want to create a clickable link at all and just leave it with a dotted underline, but…

  12. Frequently, when scrolling through notes on the iOS app, an unintended tap is registered, causing the application to enter edit mode.

    I would appreciate the addition of a setting that allows users to disable tap-to-edit functionality, so that entering Edit mode requires using the Pencil button.

  13. For beginners, TheBrain could become easier to use with a more guided onboarding experience and simplified default settings. A step-by-step tutorial that demonstrates creating, linking, and organizing thoughts would help new users quickly understand the basics. Pre-made templates for common use cases—like project planning, personal knowledge management, or journaling—would reduce the learning curve. Clearer visual cues, such as icons or color-coded categories, could make navigation more intuitive. Contextual tips and an integrated help assistant would provide guidance without overwhelming users. Overall, combining simplicity with gradual exposure to advanced features would make TheBrain more beginner-friendly while retaining its depth.

  15. Add the ability to sort Thoughts by Note word count (the number of words in a Note associated to a Thought). This way we can immediately tell, among a large number of Thoughts, which have notes with more or less content, thereby determining the importance of the Thought/Note.

  16. You could create a separate section like the timeline section and have a spot where you can plug in where in the world something might have happened. There are opensource Google Earth-type websites out there with free data and low-poly Earth spheres. Would be just an extra feature to be able to input and export data with, which I believe is one of TheBrain's biggest strengths.

  17. Hi all, really excited about the new release. My request involves having a folder on the filesystem that is watched and any markdown files inside this folder are automatically added as children of the folder thought in TheBrain. Ideally, this would also support a kind of bi-directional sync or live view of the markdown files so no matter which tool they are worked on (e.g. TheBrain, markdown editors, etc) the thoughts in TheBrain contain (or can point to and display) the latest version of the file.

    I know this has been mentioned a few times in forums but doesn't seem…

  18. I'd like to suggest another level of permission for Team Brain, which I'm considering for a client as an organizational learning tool.

    I don't want anybody to be able to change everything, either intentionally or accidentally.

    But I want everyone to be able to contribute.

    Would a drafter / commenter permission be possible? Where a user could add a thought, but not delete other thoughts? Writer / Administers could edit and add the though.

  19. I save many PDFs as child thoughts under a parent that describes the area of research those pdfs are relevant to. It would be useful for AI note generation to be able to use the contents of the PDFs. In this way a thought that contains a PDF could have a summary of the PDF as a note and I wouldn't have to open the PDF and read it entirely to know what it contains. Similarly, the parent though could contain a summary of the PDFs contained in its child thoughts. While I have focussed here on PDFs, this could…
