Print reports including notes of each thought
I would like to be able to print the results of the Reports tab including the notes of each thought in the report. It would be even more useful with some basic report formatting capability, but I would be satisfied with a hard copy print or export to text file of the Reports tab.

The closest thing available to this right now is to add the contents of the report to the selection via the Edit menu. Next, select Edit > Copy as Text Outline with Notes. You can now paste into Word, etc for formatting and printing.

Allow notes to be exported as part of the outline export too.

Thanks Harlan. I'm aware of this functionality and do use it frequently, but its a pain because it needs so much intervention to distinguish thought output from associated notes, to individually cut n paste from every link with a description etc.
This really does need some attention to bring this aspect of tb7 up to scratch

This is such a weakness of an otherwise great tool. we spend all this time building up a fantastic knowledge base and then have to resort to practices from the early 1980's to try and build reports and decent quality outputs to use in documents, presentations or spreadsheets etc .... i.e. the way most of the world communicate ideas.
TB7 is unbelievably powerful for capturing, exploring, linking and detailing thoughts but when it comes to outputting its a nightmare.
need to be able to properly crawl thoughts and output relationship titles and descriptions as well as the thought themselves. Child thoughts in outlines need to be distinguished from the notes associated wit the parent etc etc ...... please, this wouldn't be a "sexy" feature but a really solidly useful piece of missing functionality -

This is a huge weakness of PB. I'd love to be able to select a thought and then print it as a simple ordered list. Not sure why that would be so hard?!...and why it's been neglected so long?

Reports should be fully printable without going to some selection and adding it in..which is not what the report looks like.
The reports should also be fully copy and paste as is into Word, Excel, any flavor of editor that can handle it. If its presented to me formatted, then I expect to export or save it formatted. -
I understand what you would like. Unfortunately, it's a non-trivial thing to implement. The suggestion for using Copy as Text Outline with Notes is simply the closest thing that is available right now.

Hi Harlan,
I doubt you clearly understand our requirement.
I just tried once againg you suggestion.
Any table I have in the notes, is split into separete paragraphs on a cell basis.I haven't tried pictures yet, but seems to be the same.Links to documents like Outlook mails are per link adress and not content (should be switchable in a later solution)
I don't need an outline where I have to redo all formatting work again. Formatting need to be preseved.

I support Stephen J. comment to 100%.
I use PB for preparing Meetings, by capturing topics, etc.
Whe I can't print my thoughts easily all capturing is useless, as everything takes a lot of time to print.Print and Export to Word is essential.
It's a shame that TheBrain neglect this issues since 3 years.

I love this program but the ability to print reports from it is the one big weakness for me. I understand the difficulty in structuring a printout from a brain with so many different links, but I need to produce reports from my thoughts.
Currently, if I want to do a written report, I have gone back to using a hierarchical mind map that I can juggle my thoughts in and then export in a great looking format I can provide to others. But I would love to be able to do this in my PB. It is much better at collecting thoughts and making the links. From there I would like to drag thoughts to sort into something I can export to Word in some sort of report format.
I saw the idea of an autobiographical brain and started one. But then I thought "what if I ever want to publish this?" It would be so time consuming to extract the data from PB.

It would help me to communicate parts of my PB by way of printing (PDF) a selection of thoughts including the notes belonging to the thoughts.
Althught this suggestion has been psoted 2 years ago, 3 votes from me.

Wish I had more votes left!!!! I want it... That's the trouble with all the good ideas being at the bottom!!!! They never get voted for!?

thanks for your support guys. This feature would make this program much more useful for me. In my mind a professional database prints reports, and I've put a lot of data into my brain that I would like to be able to take with me on printouts.
I think this program works in some new and fascinating ways, but I still need the old-fashioned functionality of a report print out.

Great idea, would be useful. If we could also save Reports, it would be a great feature.
