Creation and editing of graphical notes, such as handwritten text or sketches using a stylus
Please enhance the notes editor to allow the creation and editing of graphical notes, such as handwritten text or sketches using a stylus.
It would be fantastic to implement functionality similar to tools like Nebo or OneNote, which enable seamless integration of handwritten notes and drawings. This would significantly enhance the usability and versatility of TheBrain, especially for users who prefer working visually or using a pen (e.g., Wacom Pencil) on tablets.
Thank you for considering this suggestion!

Idea capture
I've been using TB for 20 years; yup I'm an original.
As may seem logical, as much as TB is my virtual office space; I use other products and they inspire me to view their functions and capabilities that would fit nicely into TB without it seeming to be some kind of copy of competing products.
I trialled Tana app recently, and as much as it's to me just another complex PKM product that simply cannot rival TB, it has a rather awesome mobile device app called Tana Capture and I am super convinced we Brain users would benefit immensely…

Retain status of heading folding state in notes
Currently when you fold a heading the information under it is hidden (standard behavior).
However, when you navigate away from the thought and then activate it again, all headings are expanded. It would be nice if the fold status of headings is saved with the note it retains fold status after navigating away.

Let the note editor seamlessly work with selection of thoughts, editing continuous content
Currently, the note editor is restricted to the 'active' thought. However, I would like to edit thought notes in an integrated continuous way (like the scrivenings mode in Scrivener). This would allow me to work on content more easily that is distributed across notes (such as scenes of a novel.
The notes could be separated with a dotted line for example, and when moving in the note editor to other notes, the relevant thought in the plex is navigated to automatically. This would be amazing, as you would always have your relevant brain-part available to you as you focus on…

Generative AI Integration for the whole Brain and its Language
To elevate TheBrain's capabilities in its next version, we propose an advanced integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) that deeply understands and utilizes the application's unique structures—Plex and Notes. This integration aims to transform TheBrain into a more intuitive and powerful tool for knowledge management and creative workflows.
1. Context-Aware AI Agents
a. Deep Integration with Plex and Notes
- Global Contextual Understanding: Enable AI to access and interpret the entire brain's structure, allowing for more coherent and contextually relevant content generation.
- Semantic Awareness: Allow AI to recognize and utilize the relationships between thoughts, enhancing the relevance of generated…

Add label using subsequent parenthesis of thought name during thought creation
Currently, adding parentheses around the first part of a thought name will cause that part to be skipped for sorting purposes, while subsequent parentheses will be ignored. It is recommended to use subsequent parentheses as symbols for adding thought tags, which better aligns with users' habits of adding labels and facilitates users in quickly adding thoughts and labels from copied and pasted text.

Add note content during thought creation
TheBrain already has the feature of add a label during thought creation. It is hoped that a feature of adding note content during thought creation can be added. It is recommended to use a colon as the delimiter, which not only conforms to users' intuition but also facilitates pasting relevant content from web pages, PDFs or other texts, reducing some text processing work.

report sort event
To have the option to "Sort:Event" in the report view. This would allow to report thoughts with events in chronological order.
Context: I cannot really use the timeline view as the events created go over many hundreds of years.

Make the Pin bar full screen and/or two lines deep
With many people working on large monitors, the Pin bar could be much more powerful. Please consider making it full screen width. Part 2 is to make it two lines deep via pulling down with the cursor. Related forum post

For the Desktop app, include Tag and Type for the thought in the Notes
I have several thoughts with several tags and the desktop plex becomes crowded. I would like the option to display the tags and type of a though in the notes and not show on the plex below the thought. I know this works in the web and app version, but I would like it in the desktop version also.

Filter a view that would show only pending to do items.
Filter a view to show all pending (or checked) to-do items. Currently, the right-panel tells me how many pending to dos there are, but then shows all items, pending and checked. I'd like to see only pending. Or, I'd like to see only checked.

A Better way to Segment Brains
By allowing Cutting and Pasting and maintaining links to other brains, which otherwise would require a huge manual effort and the risk of potentially loose data or at least have a lot of duplication.
Alternatively a way to sync sections between brains could be an option.

Create an integration with IFTTT/Zapier to allow for automated workflows
Custom Actions such as to create a throught, maybe in a particular place or with a particular parent throught (by ID if needed) as I'm sure not all throughts would be available in a drop down.

Add API endpoint to add images that are use in a note's markdown.
The /attachments/{brainId}/{thoughtId}/file can be used to upload files. But everything uploaded through that endpoint is visible as an attachment.
Looking at a note with an embedded .png, I saw those are stored in a .data subfolder - so we need a new endpoint (or an enhanced version of the one I mentioned) to allow saving files there.3 votes -
Statistics Improvements and Options
Allow the option to count tags not just thoughts as links, and even have a feature to trend statistics over time, to see how the brain is evolving.

Transclusion
Further to the forum post here: https://forums.thebrain.com/post/transclusion-of-notes-of-other-thoughts-12485147
I would like to see transclusion of notes added to TheBrain. i.e., the process of referencing one thought "A" from another thought "B" such that the content of "A" appears to be a part of "B".

The brain as a reading tool - able to directly support note-taking process.
--> (1) First of all - visualisation of e-books.
Currently, only PDF files are being visualised in the notes section. All other files are represented by a file name and an icon. In order to become a research and reading platform, more file types must be visualized.
And this is not difficult, as the visualisation code is available in open-source communities for free.
The following document types should be readable within Thebrain application:
type status Importance
PDF is visible, High supports reading
EPUB To add High supports reading🛠 How Hard Would It Be for TheBrain to Add Support? (Chatgpt-answer)

Enable an OFF switch for the AI tool
This is a personal thing for me and maybe other users may feel empathy for me. I do not at this time favour the inclusion of the AI function and would appreciate if a user off switch would be best for strange users such as I. Maybe to make it a usage preference. I wanted to say I often pause using TB since the inclusion of the AI function. Yes I do know I can use it or not, yet the exponential evolution of AI is unsettling to this older mind. Sorry guys, I just have to say what I…
