  1. Further to the forum post here: https://forums.thebrain.com/post/transclusion-of-notes-of-other-thoughts-12485147

    I would like to see transclusion of notes added to TheBrain. i.e., the process of referencing one thought "A" from another thought "B" such that the content of "A" appears to be a part of "B".

  2. With many people working on large monitors, the Pin bar could be much more powerful. Please consider making it full screen width. Part 2 is to make it two lines deep via pulling down with the cursor. Related forum post

  3. Currently, adding parentheses around the first part of a thought name will cause that part to be skipped for sorting purposes, while subsequent parentheses will be ignored. It is recommended to use subsequent parentheses as symbols for adding thought tags, which better aligns with users' habits of adding labels and facilitates users in quickly adding thoughts and labels from copied and pasted text.

  4. TheBrain already has the feature of add a label during thought creation. It is hoped that a feature of adding note content during thought creation can be added. It is recommended to use a colon as the delimiter, which not only conforms to users' intuition but also facilitates pasting relevant content from web pages, PDFs or other texts, reducing some text processing work.

  5. Currently, the note editor is restricted to the 'active' thought. However, I would like to edit thought notes in an integrated continuous way (like the scrivenings mode in Scrivener). This would allow me to work on content more easily that is distributed across notes (such as scenes of a novel.

    The notes could be separated with a dotted line for example, and when moving in the note editor to other notes, the relevant thought in the plex is navigated to automatically. This would be amazing, as you would always have your relevant brain-part available to you as you focus on…

  6. To have the option to "Sort:Event" in the report view. This would allow to report thoughts with events in chronological order.

    Context: I cannot really use the timeline view as the events created go over many hundreds of years.

  7. Custom Actions such as to create a throught, maybe in a particular place or with a particular parent throught (by ID if needed) as I'm sure not all throughts would be available in a drop down.

  8. The /attachments/{brainId}/{thoughtId}/file can be used to upload files. But everything uploaded through that endpoint is visible as an attachment.
    Looking at a note with an embedded .png, I saw those are stored in a .data subfolder - so we need a new endpoint (or an enhanced version of the one I mentioned) to allow saving files there.

  9. Have the ability to apply a template to an existing thought, or at the time of creation.
    Thought Templates should allow setting:
    * Thought Type
    * Thought Tag
    * Standardised Notes text
    * Standardised Attachments
    * Date Incrementation in Thought Name or notes
    * Standardised link type (only applicable to link made at time of creation)

  10. Allow the option to count tags not just thoughts as links, and even have a feature to trend statistics over time, to see how the brain is evolving.

  11. --> (1) First of all - visualisation of e-books.

    Currently, only PDF files are being visualised in the notes section. All other files are represented by a file name and an icon. In order to become a research and reading platform, more file types must be visualized.

    And this is not difficult, as the visualisation code is available in open-source communities for free.

    The following document types should be readable within Thebrain application:

    type status Importance
    PDF is visible, High supports reading
    EPUB To add High supports reading

  12. Have, in the note content editing area, a tool that allows us to use Markdown structure templates. Today, we can do this by tinkering a bit and using third-party files or external tools. For example, I use the third-party tool Lepton.

    Ideally, this function should be integrated into TheBrain tool to save time and increase efficiency.

    For example, I would like to quickly call up the following note structures:
    - Footer note template (link to similar topics, update date, and copyright)
    - Meeting note template (date, location, subject, participants, summary, and actions...)
    - Contact note template
    - Book note template…

  13. Citavi is widely used as a reference management tool in academic environments. I would prefer a close interface so that TheBrain can also be used for academic work.

  14. At the moment the biggest unit on the screen when you max zoom out is year. Should be at least century! I understand that most of the people are rarely need more than a year of navigation, but for historical events it would be so nice to have at least an option to have several centuries on screen!

  16. Taio is pretty much one of the few apps you can copy from AI like Perplexity and Copilot, if pastes as a markdown with * all over, by changing the view type it’s clean and can be copied into word etc.. love their box for code, clean and neat, lots of different types of code to choose from

  18. I usually use the BB to keep ideas, comments, URLs, images, and so on, from LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Captures made by my phone - always in the phone. Now I have a BB full of material, and I hate to go there, and begin to understand what did I kept that or for what.
    I suggest:
    Rename the link (it does not work properly in my Android-Motorola Edge 40 Pro), and make it work, perhaps beginning with a key such as two or three characters...
    then sort the info in the BB, and all those could be massive taken to…

  19. I have several thoughts with several tags and the desktop plex becomes crowded. I would like the option to display the tags and type of a though in the notes and not show on the plex below the thought. I know this works in the web and app version, but I would like it in the desktop version also.

  20. While the free form of notes is useful, there are also scenarios where I'd like to feed/store handle structured data in my Brain (like records of database).
    So the parent thought could have some flag associated with it that would cause all child notes to have a certain type.
    And for every type, it should be possible to add "fields" to notes (in addition to a "text" field that all notes have). Field types could be (in addition to "markdown") be "integer", "float", "date", "boolean".
    And these fields should be available in selections with comparison options as appropriate for the…
