  1. These days, many apps have a feature to customise the toolbar: change sequence of icons or remove and add them. (Originally I was going to ask for a button to breing up the Todo List, but I realise that might only help me - while they real benefit would come if we had an option to just tailor it to our needs)

(Ok, maybe you think there are options that need to be there and maybe you always want them to be in that sequence - then at least give as the option to control a "custom" portion of the…

  3. --> (1) First of all - visualisation of e-books.

Currently, only PDF files are being visualised in the notes section. All other files are represented by a file name and an icon. In order to become a research and reading platform, more file types must be visualized.

And this is not difficult, as the visualisation code is available in open-source communities for free.

The following document types should be readable within Thebrain application:

    type status Importance
PDF is visible, High supports reading
EPUB To add High supports reading

  4. Add an option to simply deactivate the animations and keep the outline view permanently expanded (while allowing for manual expanding/collapsing of branches as desired), instead of automatically collapsing all other thoughts whenever a subthought is made active. Basically, working ALL THE TIME way it works when the root thought is active.

The Mind Map view sort of works like this, except it willy-nilly switches thoughts between right and left to "maintain visual balance", which is also not configurable.

So what I'm looking for is the strict left-to-right orientation of the Outline View (which is great) plus the stability of the…

  5. The /attachments/{brainId}/{thoughtId}/file can be used to upload files. But everything uploaded through that endpoint is visible as an attachment.
Looking at a note with an embedded .png, I saw those are stored in a .data subfolder - so we need a new endpoint (or an enhanced version of the one I mentioned) to allow saving files there.

  6. Note: This is a general idea, I'm not suggesting the features should work exactly like how I laid out, but more what end result / function should be strived for (ie. chronologically organizing information in a more selective way)

    To provide context:
I'm interested in mapping connections / relationships between individuals. It's very important to be able to do this, as understanding relationships between individuals is critical for analysing potential conflicts of interest, including historically.

The individuals are the bedrock "child thoughts" of my brain.

Their parent thoughts will be things which bundle people together such as organisations, movements, maybe…

  7. I'd like to suggest another level of permission for Team Brain, which I'm considering for a client as an organizational learning tool.

I don't want anybody to be able to change everything, either intentionally or accidentally.

But I want everyone to be able to contribute.

Would a drafter / commenter permission be possible? Where a user could add a thought, but not delete other thoughts? Writer / Administers could edit and add the though.

  8. You could create a separate section like the timeline section and have a spot where you can plug in where in the world something might have happened. There are opensource Google Earth-type websites out there with free data and low-poly Earth spheres. Would be just an extra feature to be able to input and export data with, which I believe is one of TheBrain's biggest strengths.

  9. Add the ability to sort Thoughts by Note word count (the number of words in a Note associated to a Thought). This way we can immediately tell, among a large number of Thoughts, which have notes with more or less content, thereby determining the importance of the Thought/Note.

  10. Frequently, when scrolling through notes on the iOS app, an unintended tap is registered, causing the application to enter edit mode.

I would appreciate the addition of a setting that allows users to disable tap-to-edit functionality, so that entering Edit mode requires using the Pencil button.

  11. I cannot find the setting to hide the parent thought in context-sensitive child thought names in TheBrain 15. I very much like that economical view and hope it can be added soon if it has not already been added.

  12. I really love the "wander"-function. And I think TB was also leading the field here, in terms of identifying the critical role of serendipity and re-surfacing, which all other PKMs normall identify very late in their product-cycles (if at all).

This is why I always wished this function would have some more depth, fingrain, and discriminatory abilities – for a somehow 'steered/guided serendipity'.

    What I would hope for:
    • wandering only certain sub-branches of the brain
    • specify criteria for wandering (tags, categories, (fuzzy) search-strings…

    Thx for considering!

  13. I Started a new brain of my hard drive data. I create a thought, then drag & drop the contents of a directory from my computer into the thought. TheBrain crashes multiple times an hour as I do this. Seems to be pretty basic functionality, shouldn't be so buggy.

  14. Custom Instructions are like standing instructions to the AI tool that apply to every prompt. OpenAI calls them Custom Instructions, you might use a different name like default or something. For me I would dictate a style of response and the use of bullets.

  16. Currently the only outlining features available in notes are
    1. Create structured or unstructured notes
    2. You can move a line up & down using keyboard shortcuts

    Assume My outline looks like
    This is Root
    -------Parent A
    ------------Child A1
    ------------Child A2
    ------------Child A3
    -------Parent B
    1. If I were to move Parent B up , the expected B should be

    ---------Parent A
    -------------Child A1
    -------------Child A2
    -------------Child A3
But the behaviour in notes in

  17. When using the Redo function in the AI assitant of the notes editor it would be helpful to have access to the last prompt entered. Often a Redo implies a change or refinement of the last prompt. Currently one has to reenter the complete previous prompt (and to remember the exact previous wording).

  18. I'd like to be able to create a new orphan thought from an entry in brain box rather than adding it as a child to something else and then having to unlink it.

  20. Virtually all of the major notetaking apps, and also a number of apps in beta allow information to seamlessly pass between Readwise and the notetaking app itself. It's an automatic transition. It would be incredible if could use this into the brain.
